In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Bridget Behrens

Bridget Behrens is a student at Wolcott College Prep in Chicago, Illinois. She is a member of the Tennis team and National Honors Society. She loves communicating and helping others in her free time. Bridget has a passion for advocating and increasing awareness of public issues. Bridget volunteers at the hospital in her spare time.

Fazli Qadir

Fazli Qadir is a student at Wolcott College Prep in Chicago, Illinois. He is an active member of Student Council, the robotics team, and the founder of Wolcott’s podcast We All Have A Story. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and Wolcott’s first teacher assistant during the summer program. This summer, he volunteered at Hyde Park Day School as a teacher’s assistant because he is passionate about helping others and giving back to the community. He also loves to play the piano, tennis, ping pong, and bowling. One of his passions is traveling to new places and last spring, he traveled to Denmark and was amazed by their renewable energy efforts and policies. He decided to intern at a renewable energy company called Hecate Energy to understand the industry. Needless to say, Fazli would be studying environmental engineering.

Mackenzie Pryor

Mackenzie Pryor received a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology and Anthropology from the University of Georgia. She attended Texas A&M University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Biological Anthropology focusing on nonhuman primates. Mackenzie has conducted nonhuman primate behavioral research in Indonesia and Peru, where she was able to live in the field and study monkeys in the wild. While in graduate school, Mackenzie taught Anthropology to first-year students and completely fell in love with teaching. Since graduating, Mackenzie has been a Biology teacher at Wolcott College Prep in Chicago. In her free time, Mackenzie loves to travel (especially to tropical areas with diverse wildlife), learn more about native wildlife through nature walks and hikes, garden, and go to the zoo.

Sela Quiniones

Sela Quiniones is a student at Wolcott College Prep, She is a member of the Asian student union and the Jewish Student Union. She was a model United Nations delegate which allowed her to publically speak on global topics. In her spare time, Sela likes to read novels to expand her knowledge of women's rights. She advocates for women's right to choose.

Tom Golebiewski

Dr. Thomas Golebiewski is a Board Certified and Illinois Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Having worked in schools for over 40 years, he spent 26 years as Department Chair of Social Work at New Trier High School and in private practice since 1985. He has been an adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration, and is currently teaching at Northwestern University, School of Education and Social Policy and Loyola University, School of Social Work. He is in private practice in Psychotherapy, Counseling and Consultation in Wilmette, Il., currently a Consultant at Wolcott School, an Independent school in Chicago, Loyola Academy, Wilmette, Il, Belmont Horizon School, a Charter School in the Concept School Network, UMOJA Student Development Corporation, Chicago, Il. and has worked with the YWCA of Evanston-North Shore where he supervised the Alternative to Family Violence Program, an intervention program for domestically violent men.
