TEDxNorthumbriaUniversity is a full-day conference on Monday, June 6th, 2022, with Live speakers and performers; curated by students and faculties of Northumbria University.

TEDxNorthumbriaUniversity offers an opportunity to witness outstanding talks on diverse topics. Additionally, 100 people are expected to participate in the day's many events and interactive possibilities. TEDxNorthumbriaUniversity is a one-of-a-kind event that brings together a community of like-minded people driven by great ideas, extraordinary abilities, and a desire to share their inspiration - and it's all happening on June 6th in Newcastle!

Those fortunate enough to obtain a ticket will undoubtedly be astonished by the speakers and their ideas. In addition, attendees will go away with at least one brilliant concept to share with their friends, family, and co-workers.

Ali Reza Shahrestani

Marketing Consultant, Entrepreneur, University Mentor

Ali is a Business Marketing consultant specialised in startups and medium-sized companies. He has a solid financial background working in Financial Institutions such as JPMorgan and DG Partners. He is experienced in B2C, B2B and C2C industrial and startup marketing teams. Ali has successfully worked in large marketing institutions such as Mother and Bain & Co. experience working with well-known brands such as Boots, IKEA, Metropolitan Police and the Queen Mary University of London. In addition, he is experienced in mentorship for young marketing students in partnership with UCL, Kings College London, Queen Mary University of London and Hult Business School. Ali's work background and great marketing mentors from large institutions such as Bain & Company allowed him to expand his networking and have excellent access to many potential marketing analysts, consultants, investors and entrepreneurs.

Bernadette describes herself as a citizen of the world. She’s enjoyed a life full of rich, diverse, and challenging experiences, both personally and professionally. Following a thriving career from software developer to Corporate Executive in France, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, and the United States, she developed a strong passion and commitment for Leadership, Women’s Empowerment, Inclusion and Belonging. Bernadette lived the rewards and challenges of climbing the corporate ladder, took an 8-year career break, and experienced the struggle of redefining herself. She lost confidence, and her fears stopped her from becoming who she wanted to be. However, she adopted a growth mindset and committed to her ongoing personal and professional development. Bernadette believes that everyone shapes their life with every choice they make. When we embrace our individuality and use courage to be true to ourselves, we regain our voice and power.

Diamandia Lingos

Speaker, Entrepreneur, Investor, Real Estate Developer and former VP for UFC

Diamandia Lingos is a Speaker, Entrepreneur, Investor, Real Estate Developer and former VP for UFC - working for their fitness extensions. She is a results-driven creative and branding leader with 20+ years of driving creative direction and brand awareness, increasing productivity and decreasing the cost of operations for global companies. Diamandia has guided numerous organisations in their creative initiatives, generating millions of dollars in revenue. She is known for quickly assessing situations and creating effective solutions, regardless of the challenge. Diamandia has navigated a personal past of generational shame, trauma and perfectionism and has a passion for consulting clients for empowerment, resilience, mindset and optimisation, helping them face their fears to live extraordinary lives.

Gabriela Santacruz

Student studying Business with Business Analytics

Gabriela was born in Ecuador and recently moved to England to pursue a master´s degree in Business with Business Analytics. In 2020, she obtained her bachelor’s in business management and a minor in psychology at Universidad San Francisco de Quito with summa cum laude honours. She has always had a particular interest in mental health, especially after being a gymnast for 17 years. Gabriela started gymnastics at the age of 4 and continued until she was 21. She competed in national and international championships and collegiate events; later, she became a certified coach and judge. Currently, she is working towards becoming a professional in data analysis and logistics. Also, she aspires to be a mental health advocate and be able to inspire people to see life in a better light. She sees herself as a very passionate, empathetic, and loving individual.

Jeremy Malecha

CEO of Biocanic + Healthcare Advocate

Jeremy Malecha is CEO and co-founder of Biocanic, with over 20 years of healthcare and software-related experience. Before Biocanic, he was the Vice President of Strategy in ResMed’s Software Business. Across his 10+ year career at ResMed, he also held senior leadership roles overseeing global product management over the product portfolio. In addition, he was the lead person behind the conceptualisation and launch of the ResMed digital health ecosystem. Today, Jeremy is a catalyst for building a new integrative medicine marketplace rooted in the power of health intelligence and consumer advocacy so society can take back control of their health and wellness in a post-pandemic world. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University and multiple patents in signal processing for medical applications.

Juanita Headley

Speaker, Author, Founder and CEO of Changing Cases, licensed N.Y. attorney, and Geneva United Nations trained chef

Juanita Headley is a speaker, author, founder and CEO of Changing Cases, a licensed N.Y. attorney, and Geneva United Nations trained chef. A law graduate from Teesside University, she has lived unconventionally for the past decade, advocating internationally. Beginning in 2017 in Trinidad where she is a regular presence on the television and radio, she has also appeared in the media in Ghana, St. Vincent, and India. In addition, Juanita has lectured at universities in Trinidad, Indonesia, Ghana, and India and presented at The Office of the Prime Minister in Tobago. An avid storyteller, her human trafficking and child abuse prevention message is simplistic, relatable, and impactful. Her ministry is unique because she volunteers with both victims and perpetrators; she also dreams of building safe houses in the Philippines as well as constructing open-hiring policy bakeries in New York that would employ the formerly incarcerated, becoming an influential agent of change.

Laura Botsford

Chief Do-Gooder @ Doing Good Ltd

Laura is an award-winning innovator and service designer who has applied her Psychology background to challenges including fundraising, international development, political campaigns, and the design of healthcare services. Having gained a fledgling understanding of how to grab the public’s attention, Laura is now most interested in how to capitalise on that moment. Laura is investigating how to initiate conversations that can result in a change of opinion, particularly those heavily invested in, and how we can apply that knowledge to tackle some of today’s most pertinent challenges. Laura studied a BSc in Psychology at Northumbria and retains an interest in decision making, reasoning and cognitive biases. She went on to take roles in innovation, fundraising and leading digital and design teams at an International Development NGO before branching into consulting. She now consults with non-profits and purpose-driven organisations working to make the world a better place.

Multazim Zia

Chartered Physiotherapist, Founder & Clinical Director of THE MULTI PATH THERAPY, MSc student in Psychology, Mentor, Public Speaker & National Award Winner.’

M.Zia (Nicknamed ‘Multi’) is a Chartered Physiotherapist, Founder & Clinical Director, Mentor, Public Speaker and a National Award Winner. Currently, M.Zia is undergoing a Master's degree in Psychology at University, where he continues to pursue his thirst for knowledge. He has worked with Schools, Colleges, Universities, Podcasts & businesses worldwide, including Ghana, on vital topics such as Physiotherapy, Mental Health, Well-Being, Motivation, Careers, Education, and Experiences. After establishing his clinic, M.Zia has been able to successfully assess, treat and manage patients of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, presenting with problems including (but not limited to): sprains, strains, traumas and degenerative pathologies. This is just the beginning. M.Zia is now developing a mentorship program for students & individuals from every field to help advance their professional, academic and interpersonal skills.

Noel Miller, the owner of Design Fitness, is an expert in Self-Care and a specialist in Exercise Prescription. He has spent the last ten years studying the connections between Fitness, Lifestyle, and Health. This led him to conclusions about Self-Care and the mental, physical, and emotional health system. This all started from wanting his clients to achieve their best. Every year he would review all his clients that didn’t make it to their goals. He would come up with a solution, and it was always something that pushed him outside of fitness. He would talk to many health professionals and apprentices and even took many certifications. Years went by still, and this was not enough; something was missing. Personal study and research were the next steps. He studied periods of human history, different empires/cultures, predominant figures of the ages, art, fashion, lifestyles, industry, ecology, psychology, biology, philosophy, and neurology.
