Waves can be a sudden occurrence of or increase in a phenomenon or feeling. It can be waves of information through print media, visual media. The wave of popularity for dystopian fiction, waves of emotion one feels when reading literature or poetry, fashion waves such as bell bottoms or crop tops. It could be as simple as talking about the wave of Industrial revolution during history class, or the fluctuating stock market waves or how the second wave of any pandemic is always deadlier than the first.

Alvin Zhang 张益诚

Alvin Zhang from 12C is a member in the school ultimate frisbee varsity team. He has a strong passion in this sport and has already demonstrated his three year commitment to the team through his performance on the field. In the classroom, he is a student who is willing to challenge difficult subjects. Through his talk he wants to explore the waves of encouragement and how it can impact ones life.

Angela from 11F is sporty, enthusiastic and friendly.She has many hobbies ranging from squash to frisbee to soccer. However art remains one of her deep interests. She spends a lot of her time visiting art and fashion exhibitions. She thinks this can both expand her artistic accomplishment as well as her knowledge on fashion. As a fashion lover and an environmentalist, she will share her thoughts on sustainability within the fashion industry.

Carine Li 李羿孜

Carine Li from 11A is not only good at mathematics but also at creative writing. She alway thinks about the essential reasons for the emergence of common phenomena in life. She has a deep reflection on the pressure and competition incurrent learning trends.Through long-term data access and communication with learners, she has tried to analyse the impact of internal examination, and believed that the current learning environment might need a re-look at.

Coco Huang 黄轩婕

Coco Huang from 112B is a young Chinese poet whose interested in the ways how the society influences individuals’ mind and behavior. She began to write poems in primary school, and has written more than a 100pieces. As a writer, she believes in the importance of life observation. She constantly observes herself and the people around her to come up with her own opinions of social norms. She assets that the modern culture industry has a negative impact on the human brain, and getting involved with true arts like poetry might be a way out.

Liu Hongyi 刘宏逸

Math and Computer Science Teacher at Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School
Is mathematics certain? Are all truths in mathematics certain to be known? Liu Hongyi is a Math andComputer Science teacher at Qibao Dwight and he would like to use this opportunity to share a question that has puzzled him since high school: When we say we cannot solve a mathematical problem, is it because we are not competent as problem solvers, or is it because the problem itself is unsolvable? Such questions have also puzzled mathematicians for thousands of years. Knowing the fact that mathematics, and all other disciplines founded on logic, is incomplete, how do we view the solution of mathematical problems and the pursuit of mathematical truth?

Peter Shen 申博今

Student from partner Middle School
Peter Shen is from Grade 8 Wenlai IIC. He started playing the piano when he was 3 years old and was recently awarded first prize in the Shanghai Piano OpenCompetition. He thinks waves are just like musical highs and lows, sometimes calm, sometimes turbulent sometimes undulating. He hopes to share his personal story for practicing piano and explain the experience of emotional changes. He realised that learning music is a good opportunity to find the ways to regulate your emotions and practice how to solve a problem.

Selina Gao 高煜

Selina from 11E is a lively and cheerful student. She likes to share her opinions as well as listen patiently to others thoughts. She loves to explore the essence of things with a keen interest. At QD she has actively participated in many conversations around social justice. In the process, she found that most people do not know enough about ethnic minorities. She hence wants to draw attention to these little-known beautiful things through her speech.

Mr.Henton is an enthusiastic art teacher. He is also a mindful thinker who loves to observe tiny little details in life. He investigated on communication and how it helps build meaningful relationships by asking questions to his students.For him, the interactions between people are significant; all the responses collected from different individuals can be distinguished as waves.
