Over the last couple of years, the concept of a “new normal” has emerged. Since it looks like the pandemic is here to stay, we have started adjusting our lives to accommodate it. We have had to re-examine our institutions and practices with a more critical lens. We had to rethink our daily actions, relearn new ways to handle situations, and reinvent ourselves.
For example, we realized that medical infrastructure had to be more robust, and could not handle the strain of the pandemic. Medical practitioners nationwide responded with ingenuity and innovation in an attempt to compensate. We saw the true value of scientific research, knowledge, and preparedness. Education systems were reformed, climate change once again came into the limelight, and the long-accepted way of “how things are done” was challenged. And this renaissance of new perspectives extends way beyond the immediate reaches of the pandemic. There has been an unmistakable technological boom that is transforming everything from art to finance. We are riding on a new wave of social justice–challenging gender norms, homophobia, and social inequality. We have started to break norms and choose the road not taken, ushering in new ideas about every sphere of life.
It’s time to re- look at the past and ask ourselves- can we do better? This year’s TEDx event hopes to encapsulate this transformative learning in our lives with stories of unconventional successes, fights against stigma and stereotypes, and radical new technologies. On this note, TEDxIITHyderabad present to you this year’s event with the theme: Learning 2.0.
