Theme: The Missing Piece

When was the last time you put a puzzle together? Think of holding that last piece, then slowly putting it into place, revealing the whole of what you have been working on. That missing piece completes the project, the plan, the mystery. It makes clear what was once unclear. It is the last thing that is needed to complete or solve something. That last piece is the theme of this year's TEDx.

Armin Hamrah

A junior at Sacred Heart Prep, Armin has always had trouble with history classes—not with succeeding in them, but enjoying and resonating with them. He is working on creating a seminar on “Mysteries, Misinformation, and Epistemology” and reforming assessment methods in his high school’s history courses.

Devyn Betts

Devyn Betts is a junior in the class of 2023 at Sacred Heart Preparatory, Atherton. She is fluent in Mandarin and a student-athlete. Her sport is rowing, and she enjoys ceramics and other artistic hobbies.

Ellie Clark

Ellie Clark currently attends Sacred Heart Schools in Atherton, California. She is interested in the environment and issues which surround Generation Z. Fun fact, she used to live in Tokyo!

Maddy Chai

Maddy Chai is a current junior at Sacred Heart Prep Atherton. In her free time, Maddy enjoys dancing, skiing, and spending time with friends.

Martin Freeland

Student

Martin Freeland is an avid birder, ornithologist, and conservation biologist, currently in the 11th Grade. His research centers on avian ecology and integrative biology, and also on the protection of birds and their environments. When not in the field, he may be found sailing, reading, or taking photographs.

Nick Machicao

Nick Machicao is a junior at Sacred Heart Preparatory. He has a passion for both golf and the environment. Nick enjoys traveling and playing golf whenever he can.

Samantha Pyle

Samantha Pyle is a freshman at Sacred Heart Preparatory, Atherton. She is interested in medicine and anything to do with math or science. In her free time she plays water polo, swims competitively, and spends time with friends.

William Serrano

William Serrano is a junior attending Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton, California. Some of his favorite pastimes include investing in stocks, options, and cryptocurrency, and he has recently created a collection of NFTs. A musician, he has played violin for 14 years and recently picked up jazz piano.
