In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Deborah Henson-Conant

Musician, Composer, Performer
Deborah is a Grammy-Nominated composer/ performer who has toured internationally as a solo artist, debuted her original works for electric harp, voice and orchestra with symphonies from Boston Pops to the National Symphony Orchestra, and toured with legendary rock guitarist Steve Vai. Her Academy and mentorship programs support creative harpists worldwide and her educational residencies combine performance of her original music and theater works with faculty and student collaborations. She is the inventor of the “DHC” electric harp in collaboration with French harp-builder, CAMAC. Deborah enjoys performing at TCAN. www.HipHarp.com

Erin Baumgartner

Startup Entrepreneur, Big Data Expert
Erin Baumgartner and her husband co-founded Family Dinner to apply their expertise in big data analytics to connecting produce from local farms to families. Erin spent 11 years at MIT, most recently at the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society and as the Assistant Director of the MIT Senseable City Lab.

Matthew Dicks

Teacher & 20 Time Moth Story Champion
Matt, is an 18-time MOTH Story Slam Champion and a three-time Grand Slam Champion. He is also the co-founder and creative director of Speak UP, a Hartford based story telling organization. Matt created and co-hosted the Boy Vs. Girl podcast about gender and gender stereotypes. In between all this, he finds time to be an elementary school teacher, a blogger, a wedding DJ, a minister, and a life coach.

Rachel Herz

Neuroscientist, Author
Dr. Herz is a leading expert on the psychological science of smell. Her published books include "Why You Eat What You Eat", "The Scent of Desire" and "That’s Disgusting". She’s written numerous research papers and articles and has been a guest on shows including "On Point" and "Science Friday". Dr. Herz is an adjunct faculty member at Brown University and Boston College and she advises many companies about enhancing consumer experiences.
