Theme: What will it take to turn COP26 #PledgesToAction?

This event occurred on

Virtual, Cambridgeshire
United Kingdom

Following the COP26 Glasgow Leaders' Declaration on Forests and Land Use to halt and reverse forest loss and land degradation by 2030, and the US$19.2bn pledged at COP26, TEDxTrillionTrees virtual event will discuss a pathway and challenges of turning those #PledgesToAction.

To address this, four talks and a live Q&A will cover how we can get there through:

1. Political will - Carolina Schmidt, COP25 President, will talk about Chile’s efforts to shift domestic financing support for forest, specifically the new domestic Carbon Tax.

2. Front-line capacity - Azaria Kilimba, Forest Programme Officer, WWF Tanzania, will detail the crucial centrality in our efforts of people who know, are connected to and care about the forest landscapes in which we must deliver change.

3. Unlocked financial flows - Eva Mayerhofer, Principal Advisor and Lead Environment and Biodiversity Specialist for the European Investment Bank, will reflect on the options for going beyond carbon calculations.

4. Community partnership - Inna Modja, Musician, Climate Activist and narrator of the film 'The Great Green Wall', will relate her experience in helping to mobilise community engagement across the Sahel, one of the regions most affected by climate change.
