In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Brendan Conway-Smith

PhD Candidate
Brendan is a PhD candidate who researches how to better understand metacognition and apply its benefits. He teaches cognitive science while working at the Cognitive Modeling Lab.

Jakob Bouse

Undergraduate Student
Jakob Bouse (he/him) is currently enjoying his first year as a Commerce major at Carleton University. Jakob is a brain tumour survivor, and throughout his medical journey, learned many valuable lessons about how to live life to the fullest through difficult and challenging periods in life. In his talk, Jakob will delve into the importance of practicing gratitude in your daily life and discuss actionable strategies you can use to make each day a little bit better. He is looking forward to sharing his experiences and story with you!

Jessica Baglieri

Undergraduate Student
Jessica Baglieri is currently conducting research on the lived experiences of young BRCA patients and their needs. Baglieri hopes to combine her lived experience, experience as a youth mental health worker, and her research on exploring the mental and emotional needs of young women with a BRCA1/2 diagnosis to create a system that better supports the holistic needs of young BRCA patients.

Max Kinlin

Undergraduate Student
Max is a 4th year Bachelors Global and International Studies concentration in Global Politics with a regional interest in the former Post Soviet Space. His research interest primarily focuses on European defence policy, North American - European Defence Relations, Development of National Identity. His TED Presentation will focus on the use of international sporting events as methods of national identity construction domestically and internationally.

Ridley Singh is a 3rd Year Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Student. He hopes to guide others who struggle with social media addiction.

Ritika Bhatia

Masters Student (Computer Science)
Ritika is a Masters student in Computer Science student with specialization in Data Science. Her research interests are Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Automation and 5G. She is working and experimenting in the field of Data Science from last 3.5 years and currently pursuing Mitacs research internship in the same domain. Her talk is about the MetaVerse: A cool digital platform that is bringing synergy of digitization and AI at its best.
