Theme: Flourish ~ Growing Together, Thriving Forever

This event occurred on
April 14, 2022
Richmond Hill, Ontario
Canada

Welcome to the second annual TEDxHolyTrinitySchool event on April 14th at Richmond Hill, Canada. The theme of our event is Flourish, representing the growth and blossoming of ideas, connections and evolutions our community seeks to put forward. After the "breakthroughs" and "ripples" of student voices last year, the TEDEd HTS team hopes to allow the "spark" we unleashed at the beginning of the year to resonate and mature through the final semester of the year.

We look forward to having you join us on this journey to unify and drive the community towards more remarkable changes.

Alysha Aziz

Listen Up, Minority Students Have Something to Say
Hello! I’m Alysha, a grade nine student at HTS, and I’m incredibly grateful to be a speaker for the April TEDEd event. I’m very passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, thus I’ll be speaking about the importance of supporting minorities in education systems and prioritizing their safety, education, and well-being.

Hellen Liu

How to Heal Your Relationship With Food
Hey everyone! I am Hellen, a Grade 11 student at HTS and I am thrilled to be one of the speakers for the April event. Public speaking was never a strength of mine, but I am someone who’s passionate about various topics, one of them being wellness, which leads me to my overall topic: understanding our relationship with food. Come join me along the journey, along with all the other seven speakers!

James Knowles

The Power of One
Hello, I’m James, a grade 10 student at HTS and the head of training in the TEDEd Club. I’ve always enjoyed speaking in front of the class for presentations or maybe giving a quick announcement during assembly. However I always wanted to push myself to improve my public speaking in front of larger crowds. So when I heard of the TEDed club I was really interested. When it came to choosing a topic I tried to think of something that would help inspire people to get back to doing what they love. So I decided to make a speech about the power of one. Showing how one is the biggest number.

Jay Hung

How I Overcame My Biggest Adversity and How You Can Too
Hello! I’m Jay, a Grade 11 student at HTS and I’m really grateful for the opportunity to be one of the speakers for the April TEDEd event. I’m excited to improve on my public speaking skills and hopefully, by sharing my own personal experiences and words, I can aid those struggling with their own adversities. With this platform, I will be talking about building resilience and developing a resilient mindset in our everyday lives.

Kelley Liang

The Story of Our World
Hi everyone! My name is Kelley and I’m excited to share a part of what goes on in my mind. After the last event, I wanted to speak again because the HTS TEDEd event opens a unique opportunity to bring the discussion to what needs to be spoken about. My talk is about how abstract ideas and themes within literature can mirror the world we live in. Hope to see you all there at the event :)

Lia Chang

Big Strong Boys
Hello! I’m Lia and I am so excited to be one of the speakers for the next upcoming TEDEd event. I’m looking forward to speaking more about the topic of racial and gender equity. We hope to see you there!

Madison Chan

Warped Reflection
My name is Madison and I am thrilled to be one of the April speakers here at TEDEd. As a new Grade 11 student coming to HTS, I joined TEDEd to develop my public speaking skills and provide a voice to the marginalized and unheard. I look forward to being able to talk about body image and the impact of social media. I hope to see you there!

Trinity Hao

Learning to Embrace The Past
Hi, I’m Trinity and I am excited to be one of the speakers for the April TEDed event. I attend grade 9 at Holy Trinity School, and I look forward to being able to use this opportunity to become a better public speaker, learn about the inner workings of TED talks, and share my own experience with the concept of change and nostalgia.
