In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Bob Bishop

Known internationally as America’s Math Magician, Bob Bishop has mastered igniting interest and wonder for math with surprising and amusing presentations. He teaches math and problem-solving in creative ways that click and stick in the brains of both teachers and students. As a seasoned and experienced classroom teacher, Bob Bishop has taught 2nd grade through High School as well as Gifted and Talented students. Bob's students have won hundreds of awards for Math Olympiads, chess tournaments, invention competitions, and writing contests. He has brought his Math Magic and creativity presentations to schools across the United States, Taiwan, Thailand, South Africa, and Botswana. His humor, sleight of hand, showmanship, and creativity make Bob (A.K.A. Mr. X) a popular educator, speaker, stage entertainer, close-up magician and "Amusionist."

Darcy Anderson

Darcy Staniforth Anderson is an academic, lecturer, program coordinator, advisor, writer, and performer. She combines her own educational experiences as a low-income, first-generation, adult re-entry transfer student, along with her academic research to build connections and communities both inside and outside of higher education. Darcy holds both a B.A. and an M.A. in American Studies from Cal State University, Fullerton and her research areas include race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, ideals and institutions, and death, dying, and grief in American culture. When she is not serving her students and her community, Darcy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, practicing magic, podcasting, and writing for Cinema Sentries. She also loves reading, comedy, and collecting jewelry and action figures

Deeksha Sharma

A postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University, USA in the department of Human Development. Her Ph.D. research is based on Emotional Intelligence (EI). At present, she is building a new EI model with wellbeing indicators. Her recent initiative is the podcast Student of the World for creating students’ wellbeing. She is an author of an upcoming book “Recycle Emotion”. Dr. Sharma is part of the Cornell Multicultural Academic Counseling mentoring program, counseling and guiding Ph.D. students, and is part of WE Cornell, a women's entrepreneurial club. She is also part of the Cornell postdoctoral leadership program. An advocate of creating awareness about emotional wellbeing, Dr. Sharma has been a personal and professional counselor for students at IIT Roorkee India and also has curated sessions for students at Cornell on wellbeing. She has given personal development seminars to World Bank employees and many other corporations. With over seven years of experience, she has developed a deep understanding of the psychology of organizational setups and academic institutions, advising start-ups for HR strategies.

Dr. Siobhan Brooks

Siobhan Brooks is a sociologist and Professor of African American Studies at Cal State Fullerton, whose work focuses on the intersections of race, identity, gender, and sexuality. Brooks is born and raised in San Francisco and in 2008 received her Ph.D. from the New School in Sociology. She is the author of Unequal Desires: Race and Erotic Capital in the Stripping Industry (SUNY Press, 2010), which was inspired by her work as a union organization at the Lusty Lady Theater in San Francisco and explores racial discrimination against Black and Latina exotic dancers. It won the SUNY Press Queer Studies Prize. Her recent book, Everyday Violence against Black and Latinx LGBT Communities (Lexington Books, 2020), uses the 2016 Pulse shooting as a launching point to examine the intersections of ideology, and institutions, which promote violence against Black and Latinx LGBT people.

Macy Lee

Macy is a Filipina speaker, writer & activist for mental health, social justice, & education based in Northern California. She started her advocacy movements & non-profits at the age of 14 & since then worked with companies & institutions like Netflix PH, ABS-CBN, Preen.PH, Harvard Model Congress Asia, UC Davis' various student let organizations, UC Berkeley PASS, the George Washington University, Google etc. As of late, she has given over 50+ talks in her 6+ years of public speaking experience and has written over 30+ articles in 4 different publications. Her organization Talang Dalisay has worked with YORP (the nation’s leading branch of government re youth involvement), the Department of Health, and over 40+ leading non-profits and youth movements. My State of Mind is an international branch of Talang Dalisay where anyone can get involved in spreading mental health awareness all over the world. Both Talang Dalisay and My State of Mind have over 800+ members combined, with youth representatives present in over 12 countries.

Maria Angelica Hernandez

María Angélica Hernández is a first-generation college graduate of California State University, Fullerton. During her time at CSUF she led a team that provided pro bono public relations support to businesses struggling to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic, exceeding client’s expectations. She served as a Corporate Communications intern for IBM during the summer of her junior year and communications strategist intern at NASA for their Artemis program. All while running a communications consulting company. She has since joined IBM as an External Communications specialist. As a first-generation student, María Angélica knows too well some of the challenges that come with paving the way, learning, and overcoming obstacles. She is an advocate for students seeking mentorship to build fruitful careers and lives.

Maury Covington Jr.

Since his youth, Maury has always been passionate about storytelling through the use of light, color, and composition. After serving four years in the U.S. Army as a Calvary Scout specializing in land navigation, reconnaissance, and night ops, he went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Cinematography. He lives in Florida with his wife and family and enjoys attending his boy's sporting events and shooting amazing aerial footage

Mitch Duckler

Mitch Duckler is author of the Amazon best-selling book, The Indispensable Brand and managing partner of FullSurge, a brand and marketing strategy consultancy based in Chicago, Illinois. He has more than 30 years of brand management and management consulting experience at Unilever, The Coca-Cola Company, Vivaldi Partners, and Prophet. Mitch’s experience in branding is both broad and deep. It includes brand positioning, brand architecture, brand experience, brand extendibility and growth, and brand employee engagement. He also has deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative market research methodologies. His client base includes Fortune 500 companies and numerous world-class brands, such as ExxonMobil, Deloitte, American Family Insurance, ManpowerGroup, BlueCross & Blue Shield, and Hyatt Hotels. Mitch is a faculty member of the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) Marketing Training & Development Center. He has written articles on brand and marketing strategy for industry periodicals, including Brandweek, Marketing News, and Marketing Management. He earned a B.S. in Business from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Rachel Dang

Rachel Dang is an 18-year-old college student from the Los Angeles area. After graduating high school in 2020, she decided to major in Business Administration to fuse her passion for creating and presenting together. At a young age, she has always had the drive to create and perform. Her love for creating and performing has Rachel doing many performing arts. From designing podcasts to acting, she has almost done it all. Now it’s time for her to check off another box. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn

Professor
Dr. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn is a tenured professor of sexual and relational communication, an award-winning researcher, and a sexual communication expert. You can see her work on the media such as Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health Magazines, and HelloGiggles. She has a successful sex and relationship coaching business and had recently launched her podcast Luvbites by Dr. Tara where she gives sex and relationship advice through Q&A, interviews sexperts from around the world, all while normalizing sex talks in humor and style. Dr. Tara’s recent research is a quantitative study with over 5,000 participants investigating the connection between sexual confidence, sexual mindfulness, sexual self-esteem, sexual communication, and sexual satisfaction. In this talk, she shares her research and personal experience on building sexual confidence and effective sexual communication.

Ximena Yanez

Ximena Yanez is a current CSUF student majoring in Business Marketing. With the intent to follow her interests in the fashion and makeup industry, she continues her studies in hopes of finding her place. Ximena thrives in all she does, driven by optimism, responsibility, and boldness, allowing her to continuously shape her path- despite many hardships. She is currently the Social Media Coordinator for Titan Communications on the CSUF campus. There she has developed her skills in Public Relations, Marketing, and Social Media. Additionally, she has gained strong public speaking skills from participating in speech competitions and events. In her free time, she furthers her artistic prowess by developing her makeup skills and adding to her thrifted vintage collection of clothing and accessories.
