In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Jahin Tanvir

Jahin Tanvir is a 20-year-old policy adviser, public speaker, author, and youth advocate. With a penchant of being multifaceted, Jahin possesses a strong background in youth leadership and advocacy in leading youth-led organisations such as Oaktree, World Vision, Red Cross, and the United Nations to name a few. In 2021, Jahin received the 2021 Young Canberra Citizen of the Year in Individual Community Service as well as recognition in the 7NEWs Young Achiever awards for NSW/ACT. Jahin was also named the Zest Awards Outstanding Youth Leader for 2021. He has had guest speaker roles in Parliament House, National Roundtable on COVID-19 Vaccines for Youth by the Department of Health, ABC National Radio, and various panel discussions revolving around bringing the issues of young people at the forefront of mainstream discussions. Jahin is also a young media spokesperson trained by the Economic Media Centre as part of the Centre for Australian Progress, providing expert media commentary on young people's experiences in Australian communities.

Katherine Westwood

Co-founder of ‘The Dinner Ladies’ alongside friend Katherine Westwood, Sophie Gilliatt is the definition of the home-grown entrepreneur. ‘The Dinner Ladies’ was conceptualised at the school gate in 2007 and where Katherine and Sophie came up with the idea of preparing dinners for time-poor friends and family members so that they would always have good, homemade food in their fridges and freezers. Their business takes away the stress of thinking about, shopping for, preparing and cooking dinner for thousands of Australian families.

Luciano Cardellicchio

Dr Luciano Cardellicchio is a researcher, building engineer and architectural designer. He currently works at UNSW as a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Construction. His driving academic passions are to bridge the gap between architectural design and construction engineering both in teaching, research and practice. Dr Cardellicchio also has extensive experience as a project manager and senior designer in Rome and Canada and was awarded the Leverhulme Research Fellowship in 2018 for the project ‘Our Future Heritage’. He also works with governments as an international assessor for the Research Evaluation System of the Russian Confederation (EURASIA) and the National Agency for Research Evaluation of the Italian Minister of Education and Research (ANVUR).

Manasi Patil

Manasi is a 15 year old Gen-Z changemaker, who believes that 'to create a change, she should be the change'. She's the author of two books that create an insight on society, columnist at a reputed and leading newspaper in India, and works with global organizations that follow a similar mindset of growth and youth empowerment. As a public speaker, she speaks at events as a panellist and keynote speaker, conducts workshops in schools/organizations, and is gearing up for her first TEDx event taking place in late 2021. Manasi is also an avid STEM researcher and an advocate for girls in stem and the SDGs. Presently, she is working on her start-up. Her work has been recognized by several media publications, and the 'Indian Achievers Award', 'Inspiring Leadership Award 2021', and she has been listed in the 20 under 20 Influencer Awards.

Martin Green

Martin Green is Scientia Professor at the University of New South Wales, Sydney and Director of the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics, involving several other Australian Universities and research groups. His group's contributions to photovoltaics are well known and include holding the record for silicon solar cell efficiency for 30 of the last 37 years, described as one of the “Top Ten” Milestones in the history of solar photovoltaics. The PERC solar cell that he invented in 1983 and his team developed to its full potential accounted for an estimated 85% of worldwide solar module production in 2020. Major international awards include the 1999 Australia Prize, the 2002 Right Livelihood Award, also known as the Alternative Nobel Prize, the 2007 SolarWorld Einstein Award, the 2016 Ian Wark Medal from the Australian Academy of Science and the prestigious Global Energy Prize in 2018. Mia Seisun

An avid public speaker and student leader, Mia Seisun likes to take social initiative regarding many of the pressing issues facing our generation. She is a member of our 2022 Year 12 Reddam cohort. She is the current Bondi Lions' Youth of the Year. As Reddam House's Public Speaking Champion, Mia has participated and placed in public speaking competitions for over nine; a state finalist in the Legacy Public Speaking Competition in 2019 and a member of Reddam House's debating team who won the 2020 ICC Debating Competition. Mia has also participated in multiple UN Youth events and was selected to represent New South Wales at the National UN Youth Conference in both 2019 and 2020. She is the current chair and founder of the Reddam House 'Period.' chapter and a founder of the Reddam House school newspaper. She writes for the student-run, international newspaper 'The Defiant Movement'. Mia has a keen interest in politics, on both the national and global level, history and English, with a love for reading and writing on those subjects.

Nathan Parker

Nathan Parker was on the way to his dream job as a fighter pilot when a military bus accident left him badly injured and his left hand amputated. Despite his injuries, Nathan returned to civilian flying in three months, resuming military and university duties within seven months. Nathan Parker was the first upper-limb amputee in the Australian Defence Force Academy’s history to complete his final 12 months and graduate. Nathan is also an incredible athlete, representing Australia at two Invictus Games (Toronto 2017; Sydney 2018), competing in Indoor Rowing, Athletics and Swimming, winning a total of nine medals including three gold in Sydney. Additionally, he competed in two USA Warrior Games, bringing home 17 medals, and co-captaining the Australian team in 2019. As a result of the challenges he has overcome, and the incredible opportunities he has received, Nathan is passionate about giving back and assisting others. As a motivational speaker and mentor, Nathan aims to assist, encourage and inspire others to transform their toughest times into their greatest opportunities. He actively shares his story and message of resilience and mentors/volunteers for a number of organisations including The Hangar Youth Mentoring and AMP CAMP. He now works as a flying instructor in Lismore, having obtained his commercial pilot’s licence, multi-engine instrument rating and achieving his aerobatic endorsement. In recognition of his achievements, Nathan was named the 2021 NSW Young Australian of the Year.

Victor Xu

Student and aspiring actor. Victor Xu is a member of our 2022 Year 12 cohort with a strong comedic personality and many youthful insights to share. He played Lefou in the 2021 Reddam House Beauty and the Beast musical and lead the role as Leo in Bassett by the Reddam House Senior Drama Production.
