x = independently organized TED event

This event occurred on

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Kate Shepherd Cohen

Kate Shepherd Cohen is a Menstrual health pioneer, author, activist, climate campaigner and Founder and CEO of a health tech start up. She is the first person in the world to offer a non-clinical menstrual health service on referral from the GP on ‘social prescription’. She won Innovator of the Year for this work at the International Social Prescribing Conference this year. Tonight she explores how this monthly renewal can be debilitating for women worldwide – and why there is always hope.

Peter Lefort

Peter Lefort has been running ‘resilience workshops’ for a decade, supporting activists, organisations, farmers, and community groups across the UK. As an environmental campaigner, he experienced first-hand the way burnout was normalised into the patterns of working in social change. He believes it’s time to renew our understanding of resilience.

Rebecca Tolmon

Rebecca has been an NHS nurse for around 15 years with a background in palliative care nursing. In her career, Rebecca has been invited to Downing Street to address the government and help shape their services to focus more on the needs of the individual. Rebecca will be taking the stage at TEDxNewquay at Newquay Community Orchard where she will be sharing her incredible gift with the audience.

Robert Pell

Samuel Crosby

Samuel Crosby is a spoken word poet, short story author, wild walker and ‘story echo locator’. He wants to remind the world of campfire wonder. He dreams of a society connected in depth and compassion, connected to nature and one-another in ways he thinks we’re forgetting. Communities of openness and honesty. Pain and love. Laments as well as love songs. And he believes we’ll renew this timeless way of being with storytelling and language.
