We are dedicated to organizing an event where participants are challenged to express their passions in an exciting and engaging dialogue. TEDxAntofagastaInternationalSchool will allow all the participants to debate and encourage the exchange of ideas.

TEDxAntofagastaInternationalSchool is a groundbreaking change full of brilliant ideas, and remarkable individuals who come together from a diverse community. We would like to showcase these ideas and put them into actions.

This year's theme - "EMBRACING THE FUTURE."

The world is transforming to something new and it only seems to be changing even faster everyday. It's time we start embracing and adapting to the future and the change that will come with it. Doing so will help us learn together. Embracing the future means progress. Our goal should always be progress and enacting changes. Learning is the best way to do it. The learning that we do in the present will help us carve our future path.

Let's all embrace the future!!!

Josefina Troncoso

Autistic Advocate
Josefina is a former student at Antofagasta International School. She has cultivated a few strong friendships with some of the teachers despite the hard times she had. Her teachers and friends helped her apply to study at Durham University, UK, even though it didn’t seem possible for someone like her. She is autistic, but it wasn’t something either she or other people realised until she was studying at the university, and since then she has been able to contextualise some of the thoughts, experiences and feelings she had while growing up. She has given several talks before including webinars and presentations on autism and pandemic mental health, autism and eating disorders, and autism and positive identity, and she has delivered training to professionals interested in autism.

Liza Perez

Professor & Education Equity Advocate
Liza has been an English Professor at Universidad Católica del Norte training future English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers since 2013. She has more than 18 years of experience teaching English to Spanish speakers at all levels. She is very passionate about teaching, learning, and social innovations applied to learning environments. As an educator and a person, her mission is to serve and empower others. She also researches topics within the field of Education related to service-learning, initial teacher education, social justice, early childhood second language development, and intercultural competence. She believes that through teaching students how to teach in service of others, we can transform the lives of privileged students and disadvantaged students alike and move our community towards a more equitable path.

Luis Mateo Pisani

Student Leader
Mateo is a High School student at Antofagasta International School. He has been remarked for being one of the best in delivering presentations, though, he has not given a speech or talk before in front of a large group of people. History is his subject of expertise. He believes that history gives us the opportunity to learn from others' past mistakes. It helps us to understand the many reasons why people may behave the way they do. As a result, it helps us become more impartial as decision-makers. For him, to embrace the future, we have to understand the past.

Nathan Fredericks

Educator & Jui-Jitsu Expert
Nathan’s interest in teaching is related to his interest in Jiu-jitsu. It was through coaching Jiu-jitsu that he discovered his love for teaching academics. His experience of being a Jiu- jitsu Instructor made him realize that he has a passion for teaching and that he wants to transmit this knowledge to other people. According to him, at the beginning, competing and developing as a Martial Artist was his main goal, but as he became older, Martial Arts began to have a different kind of impact on his life. It was an escape from the problems of life, a guidance and motivation to be a better person, as well as something that has connected him to his bestfriends. He believes that being a Martial Artist is deeply connected to his identity, and he feels that his exposure to Martial Arts has made him become a better person.
