In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dr. David J. Carter is in his 20th year in education, and this will mark his third year as a proud member of the Indian River High School administrative team. Prior to his current role, Dr. Carter was a Lake Forest high school administrator and an administrator, teacher, and coach in the Milford school district as well. Dr. Carter has been a motivational speaker for the Georgetown and Millsboro DE. Junior Police Academy, Dover Air force base Wingman day, Anti-bullying for local elementary schools, motivational messages for students during state testing, guest speaker at Wesley College for domestic violence awareness, and a motivational speaker for several local high school sports teams. As an educator, mentor, coach, and currently administrator, he shares that he will continue to challenge himself and others to be successful
