Theme: Exploring the Practice of Self-Compassion

This event occurred on
December 10, 2020
4:00pm - 5:30pm EST
(UTC -5hrs)
Atlanta, Georgia
United States

Use mindful self-compassion to reframe the way in which we talk to ourselves, see our shared humanity, and change the world.

Mindful Self-Compassion increases life satisfaction and decreases depression, anxiety and stress. With all that is going on, we can all use a satisfaction boost, right?

---

We are apt not to give ourselves the same kindness and care we would give to our good friends. Instead we lean toward:

using self-judgement, self-criticism, self-cruelty when we suffer, fail, or feel inadequate.
having a sense of isolation and loneliness with the pursuit of self-improvement to measure up.
over identifying with our negative emotions and the thought pattern “no one feels / makes mistakes / says ridiculous things like I do.”
failing to place our inadequacies and shortcoming in the context of a common humanity.
