In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

His experience in the corporate world, combined with his life story, led him (and two other friends) to found the IBO (black office institute) to, more than support the careers of black people, bring empowerment to them, so that they are protagonists of their lives. Ian's premise is that the journey doesn't have to be as difficult as it was for them. For that, the IBO is a tool to transform and facilitate the paths, teaching other black people what they didn't teach them.
