This year the South Pasadena High School TEDx club is holding a TED affiliated event. We have eight brilliant high school students speaking on diverse topics related to their own perspectives on life, with talks ranging from cultural identity to the prospect of originality.

Basil How

Student Speaker
Basil How is a Queer Trans Asian multi-media artist, who is also in the Anti-Bias club. They will be speaking about transphobia in the modern-day.

Blake Sanchez

Student Speaker
This next speaker is Blake Sanchez who’s been involved in Cross Country, Track, and Drama: who loves to read and write in his free time.

Brian Zou

Student Speaker
Brian Zou is a senior at SPHS who enjoys making art, vocals, writing code, and swimming. He will be talking about education during the pandemic.

Hanna Bae

Student Speaker
Hanna Bae is a current freshman involved in ASB, speech and debate, PYSO youth orchestra, and Girl Scouts. Today, she’ll be touching on the topic of the model minority myth.

Lauren Pithey

Student Speaker
Lauren Pithey is a junior at SPHS and is a member of the Tassel club. Outside of school, Lauren volunteers at Huntington hospital and is a member of the reading partners organization, tutoring elementary school children who are underdeveloped in reading for their grade levels. Today, she will be talking about her perspective on the toxic school mindset.

Michelle Jee

Student Speaker
Michelle Jee is a senior in high school and has been involved in ASB, Virtual Business, Challenge Success, Girl’s Basketball, and Track. She loves encouraging others while eating ice cream and loves all outdoor activities. Today she will be sharing her experiences and views on failures.

Nikita Mankad

Student Speaker
Nikita Mankad considers music to be one of her greatest passions in life, and will be speaking on the influence it has in her daily life and personal relationships.

Skye Harris

Student Speaker
Skye Harris is a local junior, she is currently on varsity track. Today she will be speaking about cultural identity. After her talk, she has created a resource outlet where you (the audience) can contact her if you have any questions, comments, or want to talk about your own experiences with cultural identity.
