In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

David Webster

Since starting @the_carrot_collective - a global decentralised creative company - in 2020, David has been leading the development of new remote working practices focused on organisational culture and life-work balance. He spent the last 20 years in marketing and advertising and was responsible for some of the most innovative campaigns in the world for brands such as Nike, Netflix, Uber, Google and Samsung among others.

Lorien Haynes

Lorien is a writer, actor, producer, director and campaigner for sexual violence survivors. In 2013, Oscar nominated director Amy Berg asked Lorien to write and produce her documentary feature about child abuse in Hollywood: An Open Secret - released 2015. For the last two years, Lorien has been producing and starring in Everything I Ever Wanted to Tell My Daughter About Men. 23 short films, directed by 21 women, which has been edited to make one feature film to support survivors of abuse and domestic violence. Everything I Ever Wanted to Tell My Daughter About Men was in competition and nominated for Best Narrative Feature at this year’s Austin Film Festival. As a play, Everything I Ever Wanted to Tell My Daughter About Men, premiered at The Sam Wanamaker Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe in March 2020. And at The Wallis Annenberg in LA in March 2019. Lorien’s screenplay adaptation of her first play, Good Grief, was shortlisted for the NYWIFT Writers Lab and for the WGAW Feature Access Project. It reached the final 12 women writers of The Academy Nicholl Fellowship. Good Grief the play, was work-shopped for New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theatre season with John Slattery directing and at The Donmar Warehouse, with Fiona Buffini and starring Saffron Burrows. The One Act version of Good Grief has just been produced as a virtual event by Platform Presents; starring Sian Clifford and Nikesh Patel. Lorien’s next film script, The Lift, about the loss of immigration and reproductive rights, won Best Screenplay at The Paris Independent Film Festival in 2020. She is currently writing, producing and performing in PUNCHED – An Evening of Survivors Stories - Supporting the Global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence in London’s West End.

Michael McCarthy

Michael McCarthy is a serial entrepreneur. He started his first business at the age of 16 and his first three weeks of sales financed his freshman year at New York University. From 1994–2004, he was the #1 Stock Market Timer in the United States and raised $100 million in client assets with an inbound marketing referral program he developed. After a brief period of early retirement, Michael founded Budi Products in 2010, a food company designing brain-healthy gourmet snacks which was acquired in 2015. McCarthy now focuses on teaching entrepreneurship, sales, leadership, and public speaking. He developed the Leadership Sailing Program for MIT Sloan Executive Education in 2016 and is the founder of Power Speaking Coach, a Boston-based consulting firm. He recently authored Harnessing the Power of Fear, a book to help reduce the fear of public speaking.
