Theme: Redefining Freedom

Woodstock School is an accredited, non-profit, residential, co-educational, international school nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. Considered amongst the finest schools in the country, Woodstock School was established in 1854.

Our theme is "REDEFINING FREEDOM". We have chosen this theme, especially during this global pandemic, as we begin to notice that the definition of freedom and what it truly means to each individual is truly unique. Their ideas and expression on what freedom means to them is the message we would like to take to our community.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anushka Pathak

Publicist, media, Public Relations, Disability

Anushka graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. Prior to university, she completed her secondary education from the highly coveted Mayo College Girls School in Ajmer, Rajasthan. As of present day, Anushka is a full-time Public Relations professional at Weber Shandwick & Current Global Mumbai, a public relations agency. She translates new learnings by investing her past experience in client servicing towards content creation, daily reporting, and client and industry research. She is also spearheading the recently launched ‘Accessibility by Design’ programme for Current Global, that aims to make any and all content published by the agency accessible to individuals with disabilities. Although good food, reading and writing have always occupied her after work hours, her lifetime goal of changing the perspective of physical disability in India takes a top seat above all.

Bani Nanda

Chef, Cook, Patisserie, Food, Entrepreneur

Bani Nanda's love affair with Patisserie goes back to when she first experienced a taste of her mother's delectable homemade cakes. Armed with a degree in Physics, this rush eventually led her to Le Cordon Bleu, Paris. A tryst at Dalloyau, one of Paris' oldest patisseries dating back over 400 years, brought out her passion in French pastry and desserts. Closer home, she worked at some of the most notable kitchens including The Oberoi, New Delhi, The Leela Chanakyapuri & Hyatt Regency. After a very successful stint, MIAM was born, in a professional studio that she set up at home in 2015. Bani loves experimenting with flavours and techniques and that is seen in all her products. She also enjoys teaching and hosts an array of baking workshops for aspiring Chefs/entrepreneurs

Bindu Subramaniam

Songwriter, Music Educator, Entrepreneur

Described as a "third generation prodigy" by the Hindustan Times and "a Bangalore woman changing the way children learn" by Femina Karnataka magazine, Bindu Subramaniam is a singer/songwriter, entrepreneur, author and music educator. She has been performing on stage since she was 12, and her first solo album was critically acclaimed and nominated for a GiMA (Global Indian Music Awards). Bindu is the Dean of the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa), an institute that trains musically inclined children to become professional performers. In 2014, she started the SaPa in Schools program, an initiative to create an ecosystem for music education in India. SaPa in Schools works with over 30,000 children across India.

Jamie Alter

Media, Journalism, Sports, Author

Jamie Alter is a sports writer, author, actor and YouTuber who has covered multiple cricket World Cups and other major sporting events while working with ESPNcricinfo, Cricbuzz, Network 18, the Zee Group and as Digital Sports Editor of the Times of India. He has written two books on cricket – A History of the World Cup, published by Roli Books, and Field of Dreams: The Story of the DY Patil Sports Stadium. In the digital space, Jamie is the face of the popular YouTube channel Fake it India, a satirical take on the Indian television setup and current affairs, and can be seen as the lead villain in the Amazon Prime Video web series, Afsos. He also runs his own YouTube channel, where he puts out a range of entertaining, educational and cultural videos.

Janvi Poddar

Student

Janvi is a mildly funny informed optimist, who wants to help create a sustainable future. She’s a senior at Woodstock school, and hopefully after May, a college freshman. She wants to use her experience as a student, a leader, and a Gen Z-er to work towards addressing climate change. She is the current editor-in-chief of the school’s newspaper, an intern for the community engagement department, and an active member of the student council. Most recently, while working with Nazdeek, a legal empowerment organization, she spent some time learning about inclusive development in the marginalized communities of Assam.
