Theme: Kintsugi :Broken but Beautiful

This event occurred on
March 14, 2021
Aurangabad, Maharashtra

Perfection is an illusion! There's always scope for continuous improvement. No matter how hard we try to idealise things, they may fall apart. That's life. But one must not take it as a complete failure, if you're wise, you can use every scrap, patch yourself up and keep going. That's the essence of resourcefulness, resilience, persistence. It's monttanai. The theme we've chosen is 'Kintsugi'- it's the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. The same applies to our life to turn scars into art, problems into plus especially amidst this pandemic of Covid 19. Cracks of ignorance allow the light of wisdom, that's what gives us the character! This makes us stronger in the places we've been broken.
The theme is diverse keeping it open for interpretation as nothing in the world is flawless.

The art shows us the need to widen our perspective in order to look for opportunities for improvement. It directs us to respect the inherent value in people and appreciate the potential that they carry. Kintsugi fosters the idea that a broken object can be repaired and be made useful once again. It tells us we can always begin anew despite the past failures.

Accepting imperfections helps us to break free from the obsession of perfectionism which causes unnecessary stress and inhibiting creativity and productivity. The philosophy of Kintsugi art has the potential to improve life in the modern society. All we need to do is identify the areas where it can be effectively applied.
