In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Brianna Tam

Brianna Tam has held a great curiosity for many genres of music besides classical. She recently purchased a loop pedal and electric cello, to independently create a full ensemble. She is not only a classical cellist, but also an electric cellist, composer, arranger, and session musician. She has written a full album of originals and has worked with local bands as a member and session musician.

Candace Liger

Candace Liger is the founder of The Center For Body Autonomy, which promotes safe, healthy, and inclusive environments for bodies to thrive. They are a nationally recognized consent educator, fitness trainer, award-winning performance poet, advocate, and kink coach. Her primary campaign #ConsentConscious advocates for trauma-informed, pleasure-centric consent.

Matt Anderson

Matt Anderson is a social worker with a vision to transform the child welfare system. Anderson, a vice president at the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina and an award-winning documentary producer, believes in the power of listening to and learning from people’s stories and acting together to create change.

NC Brazilian Dance Project .

The NC Brazilian Arts Project works toward deepening their passion of Brazilian movement with forms such as samba, samba reggae, Afro-Brazilian dance, capoeira, maculelê and percussion. The NCBAP envisions creating a culture of inclusivity while simultaneously underlining the importance of valuing the discipline required of the performance arts.

Dr. Omoanghe “Omon” Isikhuemhen is a professor of mushroom science and fungal biotechnology whose research centers on the science and technology at A&T. His focus is to mass produce and utilize mushrooms for food, pleasure, and healthy living

Peter Warmka

Peter Warmka is a former CIA intelligence officer with over 20 years of experience in breaching the security of organizations overseas, through the artful manipulation of insiders. He is the founder of the Counterintelligence Institute LLC and author of a nonfiction best seller about his experiences.

Sheeba Dawood

Dr. Sheeba Dawood is a nanoscientist and CEO and co-founder of Minerva Lithium LLC. Dawood leveraged lithium-trapping technology she developed as a doctoral student into her spin-off company, which aims to disrupt the energy storage industry

Sofija Volertas

Dr. Sofija Volertas is an allergist and immunologist with training in internal medicine and pediatrics. As an assistant professor of medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill, she sees patients and teaches future medical practitioners. Her recent work focuses on improving current and future doctors’ ability to connect with patientsusing telemedicine.

Tracey Criswell

Dr. Tracy Criswell is a cell biologist at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, where she studies how skeletal muscle regenerates after injury, how regeneration changes as we age, and what can be done about it.

Vicki Genfan

Vicki Genfan is a virtuoso guitarist, singer and composer drawing from folk, jazz, pop, soul and world music. With a mastery of the acoustic guitar and playing her unique percussive technique of ‘slap-tap’ guitar and over 30 different guitar tunings, she takes the listener on an unforgettable journey.

Yun Yeohueng

Dr. Yeoheung Yun is a bioengineer at NC A&T State University. His interest is in creating lab-based brain tissue devices, which will help researchers learn how different brain diseases work and how different medicines and toxins affect the brain.
