In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anisa Nandaula

Poet + Author
Anisa is a nationally recognised spoken word poet, play writer, educator and published author. She is the 2016 Queensland Poetry slam champion and runner up for the Australian poetry slam championships. She is the Sunshine Coast laughable comedy champion 2020 and won the crowd favourite prize at the good chat comedy club finals 2020. In 2017 she published her first book Melanin Garden and won the XYZ Innovation in Spoken Word Prize. She has performed at the Sydney Opera house, Splendour in the Grass, Queensland Poetry festival, Women of the world festival and toured the country sharing stories of love and courage. Anisa is also the co-founder of the arts collective Voices of Colour which creates spaces for migrant, refugee and first nations artists to share their work.

Charissa Wong

Dr Charissa Wong is a Clinical Psychologist working in private practice in Brisbane. Charissa is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) with professional memberships in the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA). Charissa is also a Fellow in the APS College of Clinical Psychologists and a PBA approved Clinical Supervisor. Prior to working in private practice, Charissa was working in public health and community settings, including as a Senior Psychologist in Queensland Health at a forensic psychiatric facility. Charissa has a keen passion for both the clinical and research fields. She has published in academic journals and has presented at several conferences.

Maddie Webber

Speech Pathology Student
Maddie Webber was born and raised in Brisbane, Australia. She is currently perusing tertiary education, studying a Bachelor of Speech Pathology at ACU. Previously, she was School-Vice Captain at Somerville House and was awarded in her final year of school the Lorna Robinson Award for a High Standard of Scholarship, Sportsmanship, Leadership and Public Spirit. She actively participates in her community and wishes to bring a positive influence to those around her.

Marni Zammataro

High School Student
Marni Zammataro grew up on their family owned cattle property in rural Queensland, attending boarding school in Brisbane from grade 7. Leading as a House Captain, she has spread joy within her school, while staying true to her rural roots and values instilled in her by her family and community.

Suzanne Carrington

Suzanne is a Professor in Education, QUT Australia. Suzanne’s areas of expertise are in inclusive education, ethical leadership for inclusive schools, disability and teacher preparation for inclusive schools. She has engaged in research with industry collaboration to inform policy and practice in Australian and international education contexts. With her research colleagues, she has received over 4 million dollars in research funding. She has published over 100 journal publications, books, book chapters and research reports. She is currently the Program Director of the School Years Program for The Cooperative Research Centre for Living with Autism (Autism CRC). http://www.autismcrc.com.au/.

Taj Pabari

Taj Pabari MASE is one of Australia’s youngest and most successful social entrepreneurs. He is the Chief Executive Officer of The ASE Group - a community-led and purpose driven social enterprise that delivers education, entrepreneurship and employment programs to young people aged 5 to 24 years. ASE has partnered with Government, the Private Sector and Educational Institutions to deliver real and authentic entrepreneurial education for more than 92,000 young people. Taj was named The Australian Young Innovator of the Year for 2014, an award given to Australia’s most exciting innovator and emerging talent. In 2017, Taj was awarded Young Australian of the Year for Queensland. He is the youngest recipient of the award since its formation in 1979. Taj has presented to the Former US Vice President, Al Gore in Brisbane, joked with Hollywood Tycoon, Will Smith in Hong Kong and sipped tea with the Prime Minister of Australia in Canberra. His story has been featured by Sunrise, 60 Minutes, The Today Show, National Geographic, ABC, Nickelodeon and CNBC. Taj work in education and background in youth entrepreneurship have led him to speak at schools, conferences, festivals and corporate functions around the world. He has appeared as an education commentator on Channel 9 and Channel 10. He has given three TEDx talks and has been a keynote speaker at the World Science Festival alongside Nobel Laureate, Brian Schmidt.
