In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Acamea Deadwiler is from the United States. A global issue that she would like to resolve is to ensure everyone had the resources and access to achieve financial stability. A person figure she looks up to is Oprah for her ambition, unapologetic stance, and drive to help those less fortunate. Deadwiler says: “She speaks eloquently and carries herself with compassionate authority. I also admire that while Oprah has had a longtime partner, she's challenged the stereotypical narrative that women should aspire to marriage and motherhood. The most financially successful woman in the world did it her way and epitomizes the idea of being ‘enough’ as a woman.” Her top bucket list item is to land a speaking role in a television show or movie. Fun fact: Deadwiler played basketball in college.

Charlotte Ding

High School student who wants to study psychology in college!
Charlotte Ding is from Irvine, CA. A global issue she would like to resolve is to promote outdoor activities for people her age and inspire them to keep the environment clean. A person figure she looks up to is Junko Tabei who was the first woman to summit Mt. Everest. Her top bucket list item is to finish climbing 7 summits and North and South poles. Fun fact: She loves playing a Chinese instrument called Guzheng.

Deborah Gilboa

M.D. (University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine), BFA (Carnegie Mellon University)
Deborah Gilboa, M.D. is from Pittsburgh, PA. A global issue she would like to resolve is to make education free and accessible to every child. She says: “Once we solve education, those kids will grow up and solve every other problem.” A person figure she looks up to is many people. She says: “Most famously, I admire Oprah, as she saw a cultural problem (that women believed they should care for others at their own detriment), set out to change our culture in order to solve it and is succeeding.” Her top bucket list is to spend an entire summer traveling with her kids. Fun fact: She has a superpower of helping people figure out what career they want to pursue.

Dylan Lundgren

Dylan Lundgren is from the United States. A global issue Lundgren would like to resolve is to see the massive levels of unhappiness and trauma resolved. A person figure he looks up to is John F. Kennedy and he says: “for being willing to stand up for what's right.” Lundgren’s top bucket list item is to hike the Haiku Stairs in Hawaii. Fun fact: He loves to dance and do karaoke.

Kyson Stoker

Kyson J. Stoker is from Layton, UT. A global issue he would like to resolve is world inadequacy. He says: “I would love to help each individual question their own negative self-talk and let themselves thrive. Whether this be in African tribes or European cities; our world needs each unique contribution.” A person figure he looks up to is Nelson Mandela. Stoker says: “I admire his humility and determination. It’s one thing to give your whole heart and soul to a cause that’s greater than yourself, but to not have any personal pride and feeling of superiority for having done so is a mind blowing matter to me.” His top bucket list is to raise an awesome family. Fun fact: He is an expert at catching food thrown into his mouth. He says: “It’s a family trait we Stokers have. Fruit snacks are my favorite, though grapes work fabulously as well.”

Nate Cannon

Nate Cannon was born and raised in Sioux City, IA. Cannon says: “Though I've lived in the Twin Cities for many years, Iowa will always be home.” A global issue Cannon would like to resolve is to eliminate the divides between us. A person figure Cannon looks up to is Cannon’s mom. Cannon says: ”She's the most resilient person I've ever known and without her standing by my side through my darkest of days, I wouldn't be alive.” Cannon’s top bucket list item is to visit Australia and see koalas in the wild. Fun fact: Cannon loves pancakes!

Nikki Cohn-Byrd is from Phoenix, AZ. A global issue she would like to resolve is the quality of and access to healthcare. A person figure she looks up to is a lot of people. She says: “Elon Musk for being as smart and forward thinking as I'd want to be, Julie Yoo of A16Z for being a figurehead in healthcare VC, and all the female actresses and musicians who I'm living a creative life vicariously through!” Her top bucket list item is travelling to as many places as she possibly can. She says: “And weirdly...both the largest and SMALLEST towns in every state of the US.” Fun fact: she loves horses, dogs, and pretty much all animals!
