In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adam Rang

Sauna Enthusiast
Adam Rang grew up in Britain but has roots in Estonia. He moved here 5 years ago and worked on promoting Estonian e-Residency in the wide world. During the time here, he has gotten interested in saunas and is now promoting Estonian saunas to the world.

Andres Sevtsuk

Urban Science and Planning Researcher
Andres Sevtsuk is an Associate Professor of Urban Science and Planning at MIT, where he also leads the City Form Lab. His work bridges urban design, active mobility and spatial analysis technology. Andres is the author of the Urban Network Analysis toolbox, used by researchers and practitioners around the world to model pedestrian flows along city streets and to study coordinated land use and transportation development along networks. He has recently published a book entitled “Street Commerce: Creating Vibrant Urban Sidewalks” with Penn Press.

Grete Arro

Educational Psychologist
Grete Arro is fascinated by teaching complexity and by complexity of teaching. She works as a researcher at Tallinn University and is know for her passion to get the science of learning to every person: the learners and teachers.

Kaisa Kattai

Dance artist
Kaisa is a young dance artist and dancer. She's currently also resident-choreographer at Tartu Dance Academy / Tempecy Dance Company. She has studied contemporary dance in Denmark and Estonia. She has participated in numerous workshops in Estonia and abroad, taken part in many dance performances and is now teaching in Shate Dance School.

Karl-Martin Sinijärv

Poet and Writer
Karl-Martin Sinijärv is an Estonian poet and writer. He has issued a dozen poetry books and numerous other books in collaboration with friends. He is also known as hosting a TV show on culture and as a pub critic.

Maris Pihlap

Musical Artist
Maris Pihlap is a young music producer and singer form Estonia, whose style mixes electronics and elements of world music. She's been singing and playing violin since she could remember, going deep into traditional fiddle-playing and the beautiful sound of Estonian language in singing. After an injury preventing her from playing the violin for a while, she got into electronic music and the world of global traditional rhythms. With this new interest, she released her debut album which brings together brave beats, carefully selected sounds and genuinely candid lyrics from the past and present.

Matilda Mägi

High School Student
Matilda did a research project on happiness as her middle school creative project. Her work got awarded by Estonian Research Council and Social Ministry of Estonia.

Merike Sisask

Mental Health Researcher
Merike Sisask is Professor of Social Health Care at Tallinn University. She has devoted her career to bringing systemic changes into effect, that would help us improve our mental wellbeing.

Merit Valdsalu

Startup Founder
Merit Valdsalu is the CEO and co-founder of Single.Earth, a startup tokenizing the world's nature to integrate nature protection into the economy. As an ex-Pipedrive employee, she's passionate about scalable cutting-edge technology, which she today combines wih her love for the enviornment at Single.Earth to save the world from an ecological collapse.

OOPUS

Musical Artist
OOPUS is an audiovisual band combining light installations and visuals, modern electronic sounds and rhythm with traditional instruments and dance music. It is live folktronica, where psy-ambient-techno-trad genres meet. OOPUS is Mari Meentalo (Estonian bagpipes, flute, hulusi, overtone whistle, jew’s harps, vocals, effects pedals and looper), Johannes Ahun (analog synthesizers), Aleksander Sprohgis (lights and visuals) and Kerttu Kruusla (photo, video and graphic design).

Peeter Pihel

Sustainable cooking enthusiast
Peeter Pihel is an Estonian Chef, who is passionately trying to make zero-waste cooking a reality at his restaurant. He has worked in many to restaurants both in Estonia and abroad and is now leading the Fotografiska restaurant in Tallinn, that follows zero-waste concept.

Raul Rebane

Communication Expert
Raul Rebane is a media- and communications expert with huge experience. He has also been the manager of Gerd Kanter, an Estonian discus thrower who went on to win gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and bronze medal at 2012 London Olympics.
