In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alissa Guo

Alissa is currently a grade 12 International Baccalaureate student studying in Canada. She loves telling and listening to compelling stories from people all around the world. She aspires to become a film maker and tell her stories through videography. After high school, she will be taking a gap year to further explore her interest in entrepreneurship and film-making, and hopefully travelling as well. If you happen to visit, you can find her playing and teaching music, connecting with ambitious, like-minded individuals, and cramming for her next math test.

Ashley Haines

Ashley Haines, a 21 year old mentor and facilitator, is an aspiring community leader from Langley, BC, Canada. She is currently studying at the University of British Columbia, pursuing a degree in International Relations and Law & Society. Community service has always been a part of Ashley’s life, but she particularly loves engaging youth in opportunities that further their leadership skills. With over 10 years of hands-on experience in grassroots community participation, leadership, and engagement through school and various non-profit organizations, Ashley has successfully encouraged many across the board the get involved and see the benefits of what it can bring to the community and beyond.

Navindi De Silva

A first year science student from the University of British Columbia, Navindi De Silva, dedicates her time to empowering others to strive for their ambitions. At a young age, Navindi founded E+N Lifestyle, a blog dedicated to aiding youth in finding their voice. The blog consists of tips to succeed in numerous areas of life. In addition, Navindi is the marketing director of the largest youth-led non-profit organization in Vancouver. Since she was the director of marketing, the organization has gained over 20,000+ followers on social media platforms. Moreover, Navindi was chosen by Fraser Health to be a leader of their volunteer program where she leads youth, and encourages compassion; Navindi hopes to pursue medicine in the future. She was elected as the vice president of the UBC's Huntington’s Disease Awareness society club as a first-year. Navindi’s long term goal is to positively impact the lives of those in need, and she represents this passion in her TEDx talk about education.
