In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Attabik Awan

Researcher
After completing his bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore and working in several multinational organizations such as Credit Suisse and Rolls-Royce, a quarter-life crisis made Attabik quit his job and travel extensively around south-east Asia and Pakistan. It was there he witnessed the disastrous effects of climate change first-hand and decided to pursue sustainability research as a career. He completed his masters in sustainable energy systems with a specialization in innovation sciences from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and TU Eindhoven, the Netherlands. During his masters, he was involved in a number of high-profile projects including Horizon 2020 - the biggest EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Attabik also co-founded ReCell, a startup developing end-of-life strategy for Europe's Li-ion battery value chain, and co-published research in collaboration with the International Energy Agency.

Sara Hayat

Environmental Lawyer
Sara is a lawyer and consultant specializing in climate change law and policy, and works with the government and international organizations. She is currently advising the government on preparing Pakistan’s revised Nationally Determined Contributions to share with the UNFCCC. Sara has worked on climate change induced displacement in Sindh and recommended revisions to the pending Sindh Climate Change Policy. Alongside having designed Pakistan’s first climate change narrative, including a localised vocabulary on climate change, in both Urdu and English for Amnesty International, Sara is also working on highlighting the nexus between climate change and human rights in the country. She is a main member of Climate Action Pakistan which organized the first climate strikes in Pakistan and raised a wave of climate activism and awareness. Sara is routinely invited as a guest speaker and climate expert to raise awareness on climate change and dispel common misconceptions on the same.

Zahra Khan

Zahra Khan is a curator of contemporary South Asian art. She is the Creative Director of Foundation Art Divvy, through which she led and curated the first official Pavilion of Pakistan at the Venice Biennale 2019, Manora Field Notes.She is lead curator at Satrang Art Gallery. In an effort to expand Pakistani art, culture and narrative’s global reach, as well as transform local attitudes towards the creative fields, Foundation Art Divvy provides a platform at an institutional level, locally and internationally to the arts from Pakistan. Art Divvy produced Aisha Khalid & Imran Qureshi: Two Wings to Fly, Not One, National Art Gallery, Islamabad (2017); and collaterals to the Lahore Biennale in 2018 and 2020, at the Fakir Khana Museum and Plaza Theatre. Its latest venture was the Divvy Film Festival, celebrating independent Pakistani cinema as well as Art Divvy Conversations, a series of insta-live interviews with artists across South Asia.
