In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Rakesh Banik

He can live with failure, but not with ‘not trying’. Cycling’s been a blessing in disguise, but it hasn’t always been a cakewalk. His greatest feat till day remains the track from Bangkok to Guwahati with one cause at heart- SAVE RHINOS. Being the world’s first paracyclist to fight for such a cause led him to believe his disability isn’t his disadvantage, but rather the push to strive for greater feats. And again, the zeal and spirit pushed him to conquer the world’s highest motorable road, Khardung La, in Ladakh in 2016. Those, unfortunately, weren’t the only battles to be won. Depression is real and he has felt those heavy pangs of despair. But he decided not to bow to it and marched forward to beat it right after his amputation. And today, raising awareness on this social stigma is parallel to his existence.

Working for her dream for 2 years, her company has successfully able to reach out to more than 1500 users now. She believes that all are gifted with the strength to bring a change in society and all it takes is just one courageous step to do so. Once you do it, you’re ready to sail around the world. She says,” No matter how much money you earn, how much fame you have if you’re not changing and exploring a better version of self, you’re not really LIVING.”

Shruti Sharma

Shruti Sharma is a Finance professional and social worker who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer when she was 31 years old which proved to be a turning point in her life. This journey changed her forever, or as she says, “she rediscovered her true self which she had lost in the mad chase of professional success and money”. She was shocked to see people’s reaction to the news and realized that there are still a lot of myths associated with the disease. It is considered a death sentence and even a taboo in our society. She realized that all these thoughts and reactions were majorly due to lack of awareness which is mainly because people prefer not talking about the disease. This made her talk to people and counsel patients and caregivers. Shruti now lives each day at a time, is blissfully happy and not scared to do what her heart tells her to do. She is now FULLY ALIVE!
