In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ahmed Said

Student
Ahmed Said is 16 years old and in Year 12 at Brookhouse School. “I chose to participate in TedX because it is a forum where through my musical ability I can express my views and also entertain the audience” Ahmed will be singing a medley that consists of “The Impossible Dream” by Luther Vandross and “Every Age” by Jacob Banks which are aligned to this year’s TedX theme of “changing currents”. “The message of progress and the importance of moving forward with personal ambitions that could change the world for the better are vividly illustrated in both songs. Even when feeling deprived of the will to carry on, the songs inspire you to excel”

Diya Parmar

14 year old Diya Parmar is an Year 10 student at Brookhouse School. Her focusing subjects are Art and Physics Diya’s TEDx talk is entitled the Science of turning your dreams into reality.

Fabian Karanja is in his final year of high school at Brookhouse. He is an active member of our Debating Club Fabian aspires to become an architect and civil engineer.

Julia Ndungi is 14 years old and in Year 9 and Brookhouse School . She is a middle child and very interested in sciences and history. “My favorite hobbies are reading and writing stories from my imagination and also playing with my dogs.I’m very passionate about gender equality and social justice and believe that both time and education will put a stop to it

The song I am singing is called ‘Read all about it’ by Emeli Sande. I chose this song because in relation to the theme of this year’s TEDx event, changing currents, it talks about using your voice to stand up and speak out on the societal ills that plague the world today. We can change currents by using our voices.

Ray is currently in Year 12 and he aspires to share happiness all over the world.

Siham Abdullahi is a Year 13 student at Brookhouse School.

Terry Bingwa is16 years old and a high school student at Brookhouse School. She loves the outdoors and playing chess. “I am excited to speak as I have a passion for environment”. Terry believes that the solution to our environmental problems lies in the youth.
