In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Asmita Marwa

Sustainability is an ideology, a state of mind and a concept close to Asmita Marwa's heart as a designer and a creative person. It is the crux and essence of her label and brand. Sustainability is about slow-fashion, time-less fashion, it’s about evolving a concept, re-inventing and re- interpreting it over a few seasons. Sustainable fashion does not believe in churning out collection after collection making the consumers feel that they are outdated because they don’t have the latest pieces. It is about adding separates to continue the evolution of a concept or design language. Asmita Marwa believes in taking the road less travelled and her collections reflect the same ideology as she fuses traditional and global aesthetics through her avant-garde sensibilities, her forte being resort wear. She has been a part of Lakme Fashion Week since 2008 and Fashion Week in Goa since 2011 and has now been invited to show her ‘Zero Waste’ collection at the recently concluded Global Sustainable Fashion Week, Budapest, Hungary. A bundle of talent, Vogue has featured her as a ‘Promising Talent To Watch Out For’. Since then she has been re-inventing Fashion and Style every season like a breath of fresh air.

Dr. Gurpreet Dhillon is Professor and Head of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. He graduated with a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics. He also completed his master's in statistical and mathematical sciences from the LSE. In 2019 he received an Honorary Doctorate from Örebro University, Sweden, to advance knowledge of how organizations interact with information. Gurpreet has authored over a dozen books and over a hundred research articles. He acts as an advisor with major corporations across the world, and his expert comments have appeared in the New York Times, USA Today, Business Week, CNN, NBC News, NPR, among others.

Dr. Matthew Genge

As a planetary scientist Dr. Matthew's main field of expertise lies in the study of micrometeorites, extraterrestrial dust particles recovered on Earth, and their implications for the origins of the solar system. However, he also works on meteorites and rocks formed by the impact of asteroids and comets, and on astrobiology studies of life on Mars and the origins of life. In terrestrial geology my interests lie in the nature of magmas including carbonatites and metal-bearing basalts. Science communication is also an important part of Dr. Matthew's work. He writes for several publications including the Guardian, New Scientist and Geology Today, he has also given numerous public lectures for organizations such as the Natural History Museum and the National Space Centre. He has also worked as scientific advisor on documentaries such as Discoveries "The Fearless Planet", and "How the Earth was Made", given over 200 media interviews, and was presenter for BBC Radio 4's "The Great British Meteorite Hunt". His science communication work also includes the application of new technologies in education including the Imperial College Rock Library, the Virtual Field Mapping Project, and IC Knowledge Apps for the iPhone.

Ranga Dias

Professor Ranga Dias received his B.S. from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2006 and his Ph.D. in physics from Washington State University in 2013. He joins the University of Rochester after a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Physics at Harvard University, where he investigated the quantum phenomena in hydrogens at extreme conditions. Dias is an internationally recognized scientist in the field of high pressure physics, and his work has also been reported in popular press, e.g. New York Times, BBC, NBC, NPR, Physics Today, New Scientist, Chemistry World, Science News, and Nature News and Views. Professor Dias’ research focuses on materials at extreme pressure and temperature conditions, where materials alter their properties in many fundamental ways. Thus, they provide exciting opportunities for one to discover new materials, novel phenomena, and exotic states of matter that are not present at the ambient conditions. His main interests are high temperature superconductivity, magnetism, and superfluidity in the vicinity of quantum phase transitions. His research efforts not only address fundamental understanding but are also directed towards utilizing high pressure and temperature conditions to understand chemical processes and interactions to synthesize novel advanced materials, such as high energy density materials, superhard solids, and quantum materials.
