Our lives are piles of moments stacked on top of each other -- a gallery of photographs to remind us of each smile, laugh, and tear. Our past is what defines and shapes us into the people we are today. We use our experiences to determine how we shall proceed in the future. They help us understand if we should repeat previous actions or reevaluate and try something new. The past can either be a useful map or a barrier -- sometimes, even both.

When we reflect upon adversity, how do we react? How can we ensure we learn from the past? How can we use the past to guide our future?

Reflection is a key element in making progress.
