In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Chanelle Chong

Co-Founder of Moraa, a non-profit organisation
Chanelle Chong is a second year political science student at Marymount University, and is the co-founder of Moraa alongside Cheryl Leong. Moraa is an organisation that is focused on bringing social taboo issues to light and promoting self love based in Johor. Its aim is to provide a platform for adolescents who are in need of compassion, empowerment, and knowledge in our community. They have interviewed single mothers, individuals in toxic relationships, individuals in toxic families, among others.

Chao Hooi Lian

First Year Electrical and Electronics Engineering Student
Skyler is a Year 1 Electrical and Electronics Engineering Student in UoSM. He is also part of the senate of Educity Village which acts as a representative for all the students. An avid sports player, he enjoys playing ping pong with friends and even represented UoSM for the NuMed games. He believes that life is not just about studying, but to learn new things. What's actually stopping us from moving forward is simply our own mindset. He believes that "A man's success does not depend on his resources, but his determination.

Dr Kalaivani Chellappan

Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Engineering
Dr Kalaivani a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment in University Kebangsaan Malaysia specializing in Healthcare engineering. Her current research interests are Cardiovascular Engineering Modeling, Internet of Things in Healthcare and Data Modeling & Analytics. She often surrounds herself with youth who are passionate towards true knowledge in order to engage and encourage them towards identifying their inner talent which led her to engage with Sepang District schools since 2016 in developing secondary schools towards IR 4.

Dr Khaled Helmy

Associate Professor of Medicine
Dr Khaled Helmy is originally from Egypt. Currently, he is an associate professor of medicine at AIMST University. He worked as a physician in Government Hospital Kangar, Perlis from 2004 to 2018. Throughout the 30 years in medical, biomedical and teaching fields, Dr Khaled has gained many skills and learned lots of new things to fulfill his job requirement such as medical event organizations, modern medical education models. He is also a scientific speaker for Malaysian Medical Association-Perlis. He takes part in many conferences as a speaker and session chair.

Ryan Khoo

Second Year Mechanical Engineering Student
Ryan is a 2nd year mechanical engineering student at the University of Southampton Malaysia. An avid maker and advocate of 3D printing technology. He designs and prints toys, nicknacks, and in some cases components for his university projects.

Serena Lee

Advocate for Women Empowerment
18-year-old student, Serena Lee, interned with the All Women’s Action Society (AWAM) during their 2020 campaign for a stand-alone Sexual Harassment Bill in Malaysia. Between October and December, AWAM helped turn an online petition with 17.7k+ signatures into a paper petition read in the Dewan Rakyat — a first in Malaysian history. As the youngest member of @AWAMMalaysia, Serena had much to learn from the experience of rallying everyday Malaysians to fight for social and legislative change. Outside of AWAM, Serena is an advocate for the Deaf community through her project Sign For Malaysia. Serena will study Political Science at Stanford University starting this fall.

Tyler Christensen

Teacher
He has spent 15 years in classrooms as an elementary, middle school, and university instructor. Tyler is the founder of a national recruiting service for student-athletes (D1 Recruiting), an academic journal for those preparing to teach (the Journal on Best Teaching Practices), and is the host of Virtual School Assembly and After the Run. As a productivity expert Tyler loves to share lessons he learned during his 100 lb. weight loss journey, including the impact that exercise has on the brain. When he's not teaching, working on his businesses, or training for a race Tyler is doing his most important work--spending time with his incredible wife and four amazing kids.
