In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Bruno Ciulli

Student
Bruno Ciulli is 17 years old and currently in sixth year in school. His talk discusses some of the challenges that the LGBTQ+ community experience, particularly in schools in Ireland. This is something that Bruno feels extremely passionate about as he often encounters or witnesses these challenges in his daily life

Emma O' Driscoll

Student
16 years old Emma O’Driscoll attends Dominican College Sion Hill, enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, acting and reading. A participant in ‘Poetry Aloud’ last year, Emma is a member of many school clubs, such as social awareness, debating and book club. Emma believes that we are all in charge of our own fate and in spreading positivity, as a couple years ago she went through a very dark time and has recovered well. Her talk discusses her experience with suicide and the opinions and views of others.

Georgina Dowling

Student
Georgina Dowling is a seventeen year old feminist. She enjoys experiencing and learning about different cultures through travel and plant-based cooking. She is a passionate believer in equal opportunities for everyone regardless of their sex, ethnicity, sexuality or religion. Georgina believes that the solutions to many societal issues begin with oneself. In this talk, she shares her experience tackling her own unconscious gender biases and how our individual biases contribute to gender inequality still prevalent in society today.

Jessica Dunne

Student
Jessica Dunne is a 16-year-old student attending St Raphaela’s Secondary School, Dublin. Jessica is a singer-songwriter and climate activist. Her other interests include reading, drawing, debating and much more. She is a part of ‘Fridays for Future’, Dublin City ‘Comhairle na nÓg’, ‘Polluters Out’ and ‘Extinction Rebellion Youth’. She has a strong belief in the value of the youth voice and actively advocates for it where possible. Jessica grew up surrounded by strong female figures, and knows all too well the significance of feminism. In her talk she explores the movement and the reasons why she believes it is still very relevant in today’s society.

Rachel Berwick

Student
Rachel Berwick is 16 years old and a fourth-year student at Holy Child Killiney. She loves swimming in the sea, dancing and playing the piano. She also plays basketball for her school. Rachel believes that online experiences cannot replace the feelings and experiences of the real world. She also thinks that it is important for all of us to live life to the full which is something she tries to do herself, every day.

Rhiannon O'Leary

Student
Rhiannon is a 16 year old student in 5th year at Newpark Comprehensive School, Blackrock. Throughout her time at school, English class and in the school’s theatre is where Rhiannon’s always felt most at home, driven and happy; not in the Irish classrooms. Her talk focus on how her connection to the Irish experience comes from the nations’ stories, how she believes literature is a more accessible and often unsung access to Irish culture.

Stella Butler

Student
Stella Butler is 16 years old and attends St. Raphaela’s Secondary School. Her hobbies include listening and playing music especially bass guitar and singing. Her favourite genre of music is classic rock. She is fascinated by how one piece of music can affect individuals in many different ways. Stella is a firm believer that everyone should have a soundtrack to their own life and hopes that after listening to her talk, people will reflect on the music that has influenced their lives.

Tara Dempsey

Student
Tara Dempsey (18), a 6th year pupil of Temple Carrig School, Greystones, is naturally curious and has thoroughly enjoyed studying Politics and Society, which has encouraged her to think critically about everything and question the world around her igniting an interest in media consumption and its effects on our society. Frightened by the lack of education surrounding the topic, Tara hopes to inspire people to think before they scroll! Tara, an avid playwright and actor, enjoys public speaking and a good debate. Having written and staged her own original play she has achieved many awards as part of her school’s Model UN programme.
