In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ella Magee

Neurodiversity is an area of interest which has grown since I became a teacher 12 years ago and a mother 11 years ago. During this time I have watched as my children have developed, grown and learnt, whilst teaching 1000’s of students. What strikes me as so obvious is how profoundly different we all are, yet we are required to learn and behave in very similar ways. We all strive for the same goals but how we get there could not be more different. I am excited by equality and diversity. I believe we need to talk and think more intelligently about people who we think differently to. I believe we need to create environments for our children to all be safe, loved, heard and educated the way they need to be, and that the environment they find themselves in can facilitate that. Knowledge about the way we learn and our unique brains is fundamental to creating a wholly accepting diversity for us all. I feel it would be a terrible pity for people not to understand their own neurodiversity. We need to understand behaviour and have compassion for others.
