In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ann Hunter-Pirdle

Public Education Activist, Founder & Executive Director, Stand for Schools
Ann Hunter-Pirtle is a Lincoln, Nebraska native and a proud graduate of Lincoln Public Schools and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, from which she holds a BA in Political Science and French and an MS in Agricultural Economics. She founded Stand For Schools, an education policy nonprofit dedicated to advancing public education in Nebraska, in 2016. Prior to founding Stand For Schools, Ann spent five years in Washington, DC as a policy advisor on land and water conservation at the White House and as a speechwriter to the head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Ann is passionate about preserving and strengthening our state's public schools so that future generations of Nebraskans can enjoy the opportunities she received.
