The theme features matters on two integrated aspects nowadays - Tradition and Modern following the flow of society’s development.
In the process of globalization and digitalization today, changes occur continuously in Vietnamese culture as well as the lifestyle of Vietnamese young people.

With questions such as:
Are young people still preserving and refreshing traditional values?
Will they be able to shape themselves amid the strides of the times? And how to balance those two aspects in the contemporary flow?

Let’s discuss “The Current” for chances to recognize the values and quintessence of the flow that created Vietnamese culture and young Vietnamese themselves.

He originally comes from the UK, and currently is working as an IELTS Trainer of KTDC Centre. In the coming event, he is going to present as a speaker at the event.

Hoàng Bảo - a senior student of HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities, also a Creative Art at Acom Agency - is the next speaker we want to introduce. With his love for folk art materials, Hoàng Bảo will be at TEDx HCMCOU: The Current on April 18 to share with us his young and novel idea to the topic and how the young generation today adopts and maintains this unique feature of Vietnam culture.

TEDxHCMCOU wants to introduce you to our speaker, Ms. Luong Ngoc Trung Hanh – a young person who is on her path to pursue her dream of changing herself and others. She graduated from the University of Economics and Law with a Bachelor's degree in International Business. After years, she decided to pack and go to the UK to pursue her dream. As a result, she earned a BSc (Hons) Degree at Cardiff Metropolitan University and an MSc degree in Occupational Psychology at the University of the West of England. Moreover, when she was in the UK, Hanh and her colleagues found an Indian Restaurant rated on Tripadvisor to be the No.1 Local Restaurant for a whole year.

At TEDx HCMCOU, you’ll get to meet Ms Nguyen Thi Tam Anh, Master of Department of Sociology - Social Work - Southeast Asian Studies, Ho Chi Minh City Open University. She’s going to talk about the ways that we can preserve our Vietnamese heritage, through a variety of materials, in a richer and more popular way - Pop Art. More specifically, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the Mother Goddess Worship custom through some current art products.

Tôn Thất Minh Khôi

Journalist + History Advisor
Tôn Thất Minh Khôi, a prominent name in the Vietnamese ancient tradition community, descendant of Lord Nguyễn Phúc Khoát. As a young person with a love for Vietnamese culture, history and an ambition to conserve Vietnamese traditional values, he is the one behind two widely known projects which are Thiên Nam Lịch Đại Hậu Phi and the series Phượng Khấu, as well as the Advisor of the traditional clothing brand Hoa Niên.

Xuân Ân

Being a student of the Finance - Banking Faculty of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, a member of the university’s music team and the CEO Guitar Club, Xuân Ân is known for her outstanding and powerful voice.
