In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Gijs van Schoot

My name is Gijs. Married and father of three lovely daughters. I’ve got a technical background with a Master in Science in Systems Engineering and Policy Analysis. I’ve worked the majority of my life in the branded food industry in all kinds of commercial roles. Understanding inside out what it takes to get a product at the shelve in the supermarket and making sure it is your product that’s being bought and not the one of the competition. I’ve had roles from the most operational up to boardroom level and have always found incredible energy in wining together with my teams, getting the most out of them and raising the bar together. Over the past few years I’ve come to realize more and more that we have created an amazing place with (in the western world) an incredible luxury, however also come to realise that we are not seeing anymore what it takes to get here. The price for the not haves, the environment and this planet. We have forgotten to include the hidden impact in all we have and as a consequence have become exploiters of eachother and this planet. So I’ve decided to dedicate my experience and talent to making this world a better place and joined Too Good To Go – a social impact company dedicated to solving food waste.
