Theme: Spirit of Apollo

The theme of the year’s TEDxYouth@Akure is ‘’Spirit of Apollo’’ with a focus on transforming how young people look at possibilities. The inspiration for our theme was gotten from the Apollo mission, the space mission that put man on the moon for the first time and the famous quote by lead astronaut Neil Armstrong: ’A small step for a man, a giant leap for humanity. This mission marked a milestone in the history of human achievement and possibilities that existed for humanity. It showed to us that anything was possible if we believed and put our hearts to it.
The event aims to rouse the student to honorable exertion, to spur them on to act and discover their own undiscovered possibilities. It will inspire them not to wait for opportunities but to make them, that there is success for every youth who has the determination to seize his opportunities, that no limits can be placed on their career, and that there are no barriers which can stop any aspiring student. It will teach student is to look forward and live upward, show how to bring victory out of defeat, how plain every day, persistent people may win the prizes of life by the most ordinary means and show that necessity has always been the priceless spur that has urged man to struggle with his destiny and developed his greatest strength. We believe that through the event the attendees will find practical solutions to many of life’s problems, the formula for working up the ladder of success and finding their place in life.
