Theme: Find Your Passion

This event occurred on
November 27, 2020
Toronto, Ontario
Canada

What comes from our passions? How can our passions bring forth ideas that affect our community and the world we live in? The theme of finding your passion stems from people who have shaped their lives around their passions and have found ways to use their passions to help others in their community. Our passions inspire us, drive us to go further, and challenge us to reshape our world for the better.

Bianca Lee Mondino

Toronto-based DJ, Founder, Holistic Strategist & Speaker
Bianca is known for her ability to lift people through music and inspire womxn through soul-driven action. In April 2019, Bianca quit her 9-5 job on Bay St. to pursue her creative passions full-time. In just under four years as a DJ, Bianca has been booked to travel internationally, where she's had the incredible opportunity to work with brands like Bumble, YouTube, Toronto International Film Festival, Elevate Tech Fest, and more. In February 2020, Bianca was invited as a guest DJ on Pitbull's Globalization on SiriusXM. Outside of DJing, Bianca is the founder of Sunday Soul Service. After years of battling with severe anxiety and working with various healing modalities and educators, Bianca felt called to create a space centred around helping womxn fill their cup first - something that she believes helped her find more joy and healing in life. Launched in September 2019, Sunday Soul Service serves up high vibe experiences to help womxn disconnect from the hustle of their daily lives.

Jeremy Hansen

Canadian Space Agency Astronaut
Jeremy Hansen has been an astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) since 2009. He is an experienced CF-18 fighter pilot and, in 2017, he became the first Canadian to be entrusted with leading a NASA astronaut class, which means that he was in charge of training the astronaut candidates from the United States and Canada. While he awaits a flight assignment to a space mission, Jeremy is keeping busy. He represents the CSA at NASA, speaks to young Canadians, works at NASA’s Mission Control Center as capcom—the voice between the ground and the International Space Station—and continues his training.

Leslie Campbell

Food Justice Advocate
As a student, Leslie spent a year in Northern Thailand managing an organic farm and developing an agricultural training curriculum, which inspired him to pursue a Master's degree in Geography focusing on the social and ecological aspects of food systems. He then returned overseas, spending two years teaching agriculture in Indonesia and two years working in agricultural research and training in Ethiopia, after which Leslie returned to Canada, excited to engage with food issues more locally. Leslie now works for FoodShare Toronto, where he supports community-led food access initiatives, research and advocacy. This work seeks to broaden conversations about food insecurity to include discussions of the many systems of oppression that hold it in place. He believes strongly in income-based solutions to food insecurity as implemented alongside universally accessible public services, and in the need for those most impacted by these issues to lead the solution-finding process.
