In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Pu Xu

Student
I am Pu Xu from Jiangsu Tianyi High School, China. My topic is effect of rape culture. Rape culture is a concept seldom mentioned in Asia where gender inequality and stereotype are common. People are no aware of this culture existing and do not realize their behavior has been influenced by it. Most females have get used to sayings like “boys will be boys” and choose not to report sexual harassment or rape even they feel bad due to the permeate of rape culture. Victims of rape are always blamed. Through this speech, I hope girls can realize they do not have to stay in the stereotype of the society and let their words out if they feel they are offended while boys starts to know some of their behaviors are not proper and they can also be victims of rape. Males and females should show respect to each other.

Student
I’m Yiyang Xu from G11 in Tianyi High School. Today I wanna to talk about the concept “perfect victim.” I have observed so many times that the victims in the crimes choose to keep silent, so the social atmosphere which is caused by the attitudes of public towards the victims may be a key point to solve the “silent” situation.
