In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Celeste Probart

Student
Celeste Probart is a 16 year old and junior attending Olympia High School. Her hobbies include soccer, running with the cross country team, drawing, and speech and debate. Celeste also enjoys volunteering at a neurology clinic.

Christine Zhang

Student
Christine is a freshman at Olympia High School passionate about the intersection of government & politics and computer science. After the summer of 8th grade, Christine started conducting experiments and projects researching how trust plays a role in government and how to increase that trust with computer science. She's started exploring more projects where she could exercise my passions and created a club called WICS (women in computer science) and an organization called BYHERFORHER. She wants to be able to expand opportunities of early exposure of computer science and entrepreneurship to more girls. She also loves to play tennis.

Destiny Ainuu

Student
Destiny Ainuu is a 17 year old social activist trying to navigate life as best as possible. As a person of Samoan descent, Destiny values respect, family, and culture which has shaped the way that they treat others. When they’re not daydreaming, they’re spending time with their nephews. Destiny plans on being a civil rights attorney/lawyer, and wants to continue on the path of social justice. They are an active member of the African American Alliance club and Freedom Farmers at Olympia High School. Destiny isn’t sure about what the future holds, but knows that EVERYBODY deserves to have a one.

Haneol Lee

Student
Haneol Lee is currently a senior at Olympia High School, and he is an immigrant who came to America about 9 years ago without any English experiences. However, with hope he stands today as a national officer in Future Business Leader of America, a global student lead organization. Language barrier was a real challenge that trapped his potential from this world. But, now he seeks to empower others with the language he so struggled in.

Hyeseung Song

Student
Hyeseung is 17 years old and is a junior attending Olympia High School. She was born in South Korea and moved to Westport. Hyeseung then moved to Olympia to start her freshman year at Olympia High School. She is the president of WICS, a computer science club focused on encouraging young women and students to pursue a path in the STEM field, and is one of the founders of ByHer4Her, a nonprofit organization aimed to educate and inspire students about women in computer science. Through this, Hyeseung has had the opportunity to teach students ranging from elementary to high school about coding and the gender bias present today in computer science. In addition to this, she is also involved in many other extracurriculars, including FBLA, National Honors Society, and robotics. Hyeseung also enjoys dancing and teaching younger students subjects, including math, Korean, piano, and dance. Christine Zhang TBD

Liyana Alam

Student
Liyana is a junior at Olympia High School. One of her interests is writing, especially poetry, and she is an administrator of the Novel Writing Club at her school. She also competes in Speech and Debate and is active in the theatre program. In the future, she hopes to study aerospace engineering.

Lucy Mckay

Student
Lucy Mckay is a 15-year-old Olympia High School student. She moved from South Africa at the end of December 2019. She loves skiing, soccer, lacrosse, and talking to her friends and family. Most importantly she loves to laugh. She loves to make others laugh. She is a bubbly and outgoing person. The most important part of her life is making people smile. Lucy hopes that this Tedx Talk will put a smile on your face and give you a good laugh.

Michael Zhao

Student
Michael Zhao is a 16-year-old junior, currently attending Olympia high school. As an avid lover of classical music, Michael began playing the piano at the age of 7 and has won a multitude of different musical achievements such as winning the advanced division of the OMTA Piano concerto competition and representing his district in the Washington State Honors Recital for piano. Beyond music, Michael is a connoisseur for European Art and history and has a keen interest in reading French Literature from the 18th-19th centuries. His interest in these subjects has led him to co-establish his own club--OHS Classics Club--with his friend Annette Lu, a club whose goals are discovering the secret beauties packed within historical literature. In the future, Michael hopes to study languages such as French and Italian to further nurture his infatuation for European history. Michael wants to show the world the intricacies wrapped not only within classical music but art in general.

Phoebe Chartock

Phoebe Chartock is a Senior at Olympia High School, and plans to attend college in the fall with an intended major of Psychology. She loves the Pacific Northwest, hiking, and adventuring in the outdoors. She works as a peer-led sex educator and is passionate about social justice.

Teagan Youmans

Student
Teagan Youmans is a 17-year-old student from Olympia, Washington. He has first-hand experience with the interplay between mental health, school, social life, and sleep; he was diagnosed with both narcolepsy and delayed sleep phase disorder at the age of 16. It is his mission to educate others and help rewrite the narrative around sleep. He recently received his GED and is focused on becoming a future adolescent therapist.

Vindhya Adamala

Student
Vindhya Adamala is a 14-year-old, 8th-grade student from Jefferson Middle school. She believes that by working together we can shed light on big issues. She loves to encourage people and show them how they can make a difference by even doing small things. Her hobbies include running, soccer, reading, writing, and advocating for a variety of causes. Vindhya is also her school’s Associative Student Body Vice President, and she loves to volunteer in her community! Vindhya is a recipient of the Carson Scholarship for her dedication to community service. Vindhya would also love to travel around the world someday to raise money for major issues impacting millions of people on a daily basis. She is honored to be speaking at the TEDx event and looks forward to bringing awareness to major issues in her community as well as across the world!
