Dear TEDxers,

Our second virtual Salon event will be themed – Education in time of Confinement – and is scheduled for Tuesday April 14th, 2020 at 17:00 CEST (5pm) and will last approximately 60 minutes. Save the date and sign-up to our virtual session.

Our TEDxMonteCarlo mentor to the board, Susan Feaster will co-host the session with our Curator Nazanine Matin. Experts have been invited to the session to address the topic of Education in Monaco from multiple facets – educators, parents, technology, and students.

With the sudden changes in our daily lives caused by the COVID -19, there have been many challenges, fears, fast fix solutions and hopeful opportunities for change in the future of education in Monaco and worldwide.

We have Alicia Sedgwick, Adjunct Faculty at the International University of Monaco, Teacher, and Co-Curator of an upcoming TEDx Youth Event at the International School of Monaco, will advise listeners on the art of teaching online to students displaced around the world, or who stayed in Monaco, some away from their families. She will include tips on keeping teachers and students motivated and engaged whilst learning and delivering results. How to avoid depression from being isolated? How to keep from feeling overwhelmed as a teaching professional in your professional and personal life?

We also have Martine Ackermann, President of the Association des Parents d’Eleves de Monaco (APEM). Martine is a parent and engaged with the administration. How can parents help teachers? How can parents help the students? How can parents deal with telecommuting, e-studying, sharing device time, internet challenges, daily chores, individual routines all under the same roof, shopping for essentials, meal times, laundry, cleaning, pets, family stress, making the most of family time together?

We will also have two additional experts who will share some tips on online teaching, Luke Sullivan & PJ Heslin. Luke is the Director of the Modelex Education Centre in Monaco, which provides full spectrum of academic support for students in Monaco and around the world, and has recently moved all of its lessons online. PJ Heslin teaches ICT at the International School of Monaco and is a former IT Director and Entrepreneur.

Please watch the pre-recorded TED Talks before our session, as we will be addressing some of the points shared by Sal & Adora at the event.
