In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aditya Jain

Student
If you ask any of his family or friends, you’ll find Aditya Jain has always loved to be part of his community, and to talk! As a high school student, he is part of his school’s mock trial and Model United Nations teams, and music service committee chapter. He is also part of multiple performing arts groups in and outside of school. During the summer of 2020, he co-founded and co-taught a virtual public speaking course for elementary and middle school students, an experience which taught him the importance of peer-mentorship. He likes to spend his time reading, listening to music, and exploring the outdoors with friends and family.

Alek Karagozyan

Student
Alek Karagozyan is best described as an excessively energetic yet equally kind-hearted person, and his friends would agree. As a sophomore at Belmont High School, he plays for the school’s tennis team as well as participating in local and National tennis tournaments on his own time. When Alek isn’t on the court or in class, catch him recording and producing his own songs or talking with his friends and anyone else who happens to be around.

Emily Kaiser

Student
Emily Kaiser is a junior at Belmont High School, and is interested in music and psychology. She hopes to be helpful to everyone she meets and make a mark on this world through her music and relationships. Emily participates in nearly every vocal ensemble at the school, and plans to continue her studies of music in college.

Ian Jackson

Ian is a junior at Belmont High School. Growing up an avid sports fan, Ian now represents Belmont High School on both its basketball and track teams. He is also a hardworking student who is dedicated to the town community.

Jonathan Gao

Student
Jonathan Gao is a senior at Belmont High School who will be attending NYU’s Stern School of Business in the fall as a major in Business, Technology, and Entrepreneurship. He has been interested in studying economics, finance, and business technology throughout high school, and more recently, he has been doing research on the future of our economy.

Kazuma Ban

Kazuma Ban is a freshman at Belmont High School. Having lived in 5 different states, he loves meeting new people and trying new things. Kazuma really enjoys photography and makes videos on YouTube. He has a passion for creating content and wants to inspire others his age to go explore the world around them.

Mariam Hassan Almusalamy

Student
Mariam Hassan Almusalamy is a junior at Belmont High School. She was born in Egypt and raised in Saudi Arabia most of her life before moving to the United States 3 years ago. She is co-founder of her school’s Arab and South Asian Club and strives to bring awareness to difficult topics and share the lessons she learned throughout her time here in the US. In her free time, Mariam enjoys baking, painting and hanging out with friends.
