In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Mr. Kiran Nepali

Musician
Mr. Kiran Nepali is a 9th generation of a long line of sarangi players based in Kirtipur. He is a core member of Kutumba band and has also been enchanting the audience with Bipul Chhetri and the Travelling Band. And now, sticking to his roots, he has initiated a humble project known as Project Sarangi.

Mr. Maheshwor Kumar Nakarmi

Aircraft Maintaince Engineer
Maheshwor Kumar Nakarmi is the first licensed helicopter engineer of Nepal who received his engineer license from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal in 1980. He is also one of the very few aeronautical engineers in Nepal to possess a fixed-wing aircraft engineering license in addition to a helicopter license. He has been serving in the field of aviation for 55 years now. At 74 years of age, when most people are well into their retirement years, Mr. Nakarmi took on a new job as the senior engineer for Manang Air, a position he still holds at the current age of 77! He is also a licensed ground instructor for pilots and has trained over a dozen Nepalese pilots.

A banking professional and a chartered accountant with 2 decades of experience in the capital market and banking sector, Mr. Manoj Kumar Gyawali is Deputy General Manager of Nabil Bank. He is also known for his contribution and positive impacts made in Nepal Rastra Bank, Global IME Bank, Global IME Capital, and Jyoti Bikash Bank.

Mr. Pradip Khatiwada

Civic Tech Entrepreneur
Pradip Khatiwada is the founder and executive director of Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab)—a not for profit civic-tech company based in Nepal. At YI-Lab, he is leading a group of young people with the mission of bridging science to people and policy through innovation. Recognized for civic tech innovation, he has been instrumental in the development of cutting-edge technological tools such as integrated disaster information management system, COVID-19 monitor, human rights information management system for government and non-government organizations. Pradip is also the current chair of UINSPIRE Alliance—a global youth and young professionals’ network of 12 countries—working in science, engineering, technology, and innovation. Through this international network, he is leading a youth network to accelerate the implementation of disaster risk reduction, climate change-related policy, and action at local, national, regional, and global platforms.

Ms. Nishma Choudhary

Media Personality
Nishma Choudhary is a television presenter, former RJ and a host who started her journey in Media with Miss Nepal 2015- Placing top 5 and winning 2 subtitles there. Her journey as a chat show host started in Radionagarik which further brought her to Himalaya TV. Further, she has hosted Backstage for popular reality show Roadies-season 3 and Subhasamachar for popular page Routine of Nepal Banda. Currently, she is a podcast host for The Good Health which is a health related show. She has collaborated with UNWomen and YTS for a mental health related podcast as well. She is a student of Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology which also makes her an open advocate for mental health issues. Her initiation for emotional support- The Missing Counselor which was started during lockdown was extremely helpful for people.

Ms. Sunita Dangol

Artist
Ms. Sunita Dangol is a communications professional with a deep interest in cultural preservation. Upon winning the Miss Newa peagent in 2011, Sunita has pursued a varied range of works. In her career, she has served as a professional RJ, Emcee, TV presenter and Newa language and script activist. She has also been working in the City Planning Commission of Kathmandu as a consultant. Sunita is one of the co-leads of Callijatra, a volunteer-led youth initiative currently working for the preservation and mainstreaming of Newa scripts and Nepalbhasa. The initiative has been credited with kick-starting a renewed interest in Ranjana script. Sunita and her team have been working on additional innovative projects like the 1-minute Nepalbhasa tutorials that present intangible heritages in an accessible manner- encouraging adoption and preservation. She is credited for kick-starting a renewed interest in Ranjana script among the younger generations.
