In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Jeff Mata

Motivational Speaker + Blind Athlete
Jeff Mata is a San Diego-born and raised motivational speaker, athlete, business professional, and advocate for an equal educational environment for students with disabilities. Faced with a complete loss of sight 10 years ago, he has accomplished more than one could imagine. Jeff graduated from CSUSM with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management. While working on his undergraduate, he mentored other students on campus through a life and leadership program known as the Tukwut Leadership Circle. His ability to guide and motivate others became a valuable asset to his career in motivational speaking. Not only does he empower one through speaking, but Jeff is an established athlete in the Sport Jiu Jitsu International Federation. He is a three-time World Gold Medalist and continues to compete against athletes who are able-bodied. His journey in a fast-paced world with lack of perception has inspired a countless number of individuals and he is just getting started.
