Tunisia

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amir Ben-Gacem

Head of International Emerging Markets at Credit Suisse
If you’re familiar with the finance sector then you’ve must have heard about this master of the domain. Amir Ben-Gacem is currently the Head of Emerging Markets of International Sales at Credit Suisse. He was previously the Executive Director at Morgan Stanley (London), Director at HSBC (London) and he’s the founder of the Ultra Mirage, a race in the desert of Tunisia with two courses of 50 and 100 km. It is undeniable that the finance sector is comparable to a tank of sharks where you not only need to be the best but also to be consistent and our speaker is definitely a top tier player.

Dr. Khalil Amri

Professor and Orthopedic surgeon
If being a surgeon was all about strictly following procedures and being static, we simply wouldn’t be having him as our groundbreaking speaker. You may know him as the successful surgeon who made the first total humerus reconstruction. This achievement is a pioneer initiative in Tunisia and Africa, and the 3rd in the world. To make it simple he followed a new procedure to prevent his patient from getting his hand amputated. We should all learn from him that when life gets tough we should get tougher. Dr Khalil Amri is Professor at Faculty of Medicine in Tunis and Orthopedic Surgeon in Military Hospital in Tunis. His obstinacy, perseverance and innovative vision will never cease to amaze and his TEDx Talk will certainly leave you speechless.

Fethi Haddaoui

Actor, producer and scriptwriter
They say go big or go home, but our special speaker likes to reinvent the game and to set new expectations. Being an actor, a producer, a scriptwriter and soon one of Tunisia’s landmarks Fethi Haddaoui is in no need of an introduction. His incredible gift to portray versatile roles, to make the lines between his person and the character blurry will never cease to amaze us. We dug deep in order to introduce to you in our Ted a new layer to this incredible actor. His profound love of theater makes him the perfect ambassador to the role of the theater to today’s youth. It has been proved that there’s a correlation between doing good at mathematics and doing theater at a young age. So we better think twice before thinking that leisure is a waste of time.

Mohamed Ali Ben Hadji

CEO Le Pro WorldWide
What does make him so special? It’s simply being able to prove that privilege it’s not the only way to success. We tend to limit ourselves with such overbearing weights. We convince ourselves that trying too hard to overcome those shortages will not lead us to whatever our heart desires. Thus, our speaker will make sure to give us a way out and inspire us to dictate our own destiny the same way he did. When it comes to our guest, it was all about his creativity, dedication, passion, and being able to play the game by his own rules.

Najet Ounis

Singer
Najet Ounis, a name that has entered without urgency in the register of great international artists. She is both a graphic designer and a singer. It took her about ten years to devote herself completely to her art and she is indeed one of the few Tunisians artists who signed with the record company Universal Music France.

Noureddine Hajji

Country Managing Partner Ernst&Younh (EY)
They say if you look close overnight successes are years in the making. If dedication, ambition and audacity were a person, then we wouldn’t find someone better than our speaker to portray it. It all started with a dream and now it’s a well-established empire. Our speaker, EY Tunisia’s country Managing Partner, Nourredine Hajji is for sure an inspiring model to look up to. It takes a hell of a man to implement an international success as EY and to reinforce its image on a national level. That’s why, we should alll remember then when the road gets hard, when we tend to dream big, we tend to think that we should start from a place of privilege. Our speaker proves that the real privilege does not have to be material. Sometimes all you need is to be bold, to set a clear goal, and to be consistent.

Rania Toukebri

Aerospace Engineer
They say that the sky is the limit but it’s clearly not the case for our top-notch speaker. Our inspiring aerospace engineer Rania Toukebri sets new expectations for Tunisian women and for the Tunisian raw talent generally. It came to our attention that until now the aerospace field is, unfortunately, a male-dominated field. The contribution of our speaker in terms of achievement and advocating for women’s rights as astronauts are clearly making a change. Being such a versatile ambassador does certainly imply a huge impact. In her speech, Rania made sure to portray her love for space and will challenge your curiosity the same way the infinite space does everyday.

Road 66

Blues Band
Their authenticity and talent made them one of the best blues Band's in Tunisia.

Samia Maktouf

International Lawyer
Something we should all learn from this lawyer it’s being resilient. In fact, it was from an early age that Mrs. Samia Maktouf fought hard to make her voice matter. Being the only girl among five brothers was her first challenge, then she took it to a male-dominated and extremely competitive field where you need to be as tough as nails. Mrs. Samia Maktouf did not only demonstrate an incredible resilience as a lawyer in court but her ability to defend sensitive and controversial cases made her a force to be reckoned with. Thus, we owe it to ourselves to stop shrinking our potential and being afraid to have our voices heard.
