TEDx Sault College seeks to highlight pertinent communal and socio-economic development issues and ideas within the Sault Ste Marie community. Ideas addressed include:
• Economic Development
• Truth and Reconciliation
• Government
The event will bring the college and community together for a larger conversation about the present and future of the Sault. TEDxSaultCollege will encourage the community to think about and discuss the issues and solutions posed by the speakers amongst the rest of the community and province—spreading ideas for change and creating a societal impact.

Emily Cormier

Sustainability Professional
Emily Cormier is the Sustainability Coordinator at the City of Sault Ste Marie, where she leads sustainability initiatives across the organization, including the implementation of the Community Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan. She also led the development of the Wawa Municipal Energy Plan, for the Municipality of Wawa which won the 2017 Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) Community Project of the Year award. Her experience also includes planning and operations on Forest Resource Inventory (FRI) projects across Ontario, and working in a policy analyst capacity for the Federal Government including the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and Public Safety in Ottawa. Emily holds an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in International Development and Globalization from the University of Ottawa and a Master’s in International Business from Hult International Business School. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Kelly Burton

Entrepreneur
Kelly Burton is an award-winning entrepreneur, business mentor and economic developer. She is the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of StartUp SAULT and works as an economic developer at the Factor 5 Group Inc. Kelly owned and operated her own small business, Cafe Natura, for 12 years and went on to study both community and classic economic development at Simon Fraser University and the University of Waterloo. Kelly is passionate about food security, the economics of well being and economic resilience.

Patrick Hunter

Ojibway Artist and Graphic Designer
Patrick Hunter is an artist, graphic designer and award winning entrepreneur from Red Lake, Ontario. Though best known for this woodland art style paintings, he has also been having a positive and impactful impression in the corporate world through collaborations with Rogers Media Company, Manulife, Ontario Power Generation, as well as TD & RBC banks to name a few. The intention that drives the work Patrick does stems from how a better world can be created through art, so future generations can see themselves reflected in the mainstream culture. He has engaged the world of sports with artistic collaborations with the Chicago Blackhawks, creating the uniforms for the Canadian Olympic curling team, as well as APTN's new Bryan Trottier award for Indigenous excellence in the NHL. When not collaborating with exciting national partners, Patrick is creating awareness about his Ojibway roots and inspiring creative confidence through in-person and virtual paint workshops across North America.

Shauna Hynna

Performance and Change Consultant
Shauna Hynna is the Director of Transformation and Partnerships at Sault Area Hospital as well as the current Chair of Sault College Board of Governors. Shauna has over 20 years of experience leading Organizational Transformation through leadership coaching with a focus on engaging the front line level in driving change that improves service delivery and the employees work environment. Shauna is a Black Belt Six Sigma and Lean Practioner, Master Trainer, a certified Performance Consultant and Change Consultant. Her passion for people leadership, service and excellence are key motivators and her approach enables staff and leaders to drive sustainable change in Organizations and systems.

Travis Anderson

Director of Tourism and Community Development, City of Sault Ste.
Travis has over 14 years of project management and community development experience, most recently leading FutureSSM a community revitalization initiative initiated by the City of Sault Ste. Marie. Prior to joining the public sector, Travis worked in the natural resource sector including leading the development of large-scale renewable and conventional energy projects. His experience includes community consultation and engagement, management of engineering design, commercial feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, First Nations consultation, stakeholder relations, regulatory approvals, construction and operations in Canada and internationally. Travis received his Honours Degree in Environmental Studies from Carleton University and obtained his Masters of Business Administration from the Simon Fraser University. He also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
