Today, we live in the most challenging time of human history and the survival of the entire planet is now clearly at stake. At TEDx RuhrUniversityBochum we believe that just as we need new ideas on how to produce cleaner energy, reduce emissions and create less waste, we also need to harness the full potential of our communicative abilities and our capacity for community-building, in order to build a sustainable future for all of us.

That is also why “Communicating Communities” is much more than a theme to us – it is a mission. We want to bring people and ideas from diverse communities together, enable communication between them and build the foundations for a new form of common community.

Therefore we are also turning TEDx RuhrUniversityBochum from a one-day event into a 365-days experience in which you are not only invited to listen to inspiring talks but also to contribute actively yourself!

We invite you to become a part of the community we are building together. Join us on May 16 for our next TEDx conference and begin this new chapter with us!

See you in May!

Anne-Chloé Destremau

Possibility Management Trainer
Former French professional swimmer, former arbitration and litigation lawyer, and graduate from Sorbonne University and Columbia University, Anne-Chloé Destremau claims that the universe responds directly to the level of responsibility you take. She has made it her mission to build bridges to regenerative human cultures by empowering individuals and organizations with the thoughtware of radical responsibility. She argues that the thoughtware society gave us to think with is ancient and seriously outdated, and that during transformational trainings you can upgrade your thoughtware to create a more relational and intelligent future. Through years of meeting people directly in their secret incompetencies, she has found that adding nonlinear possibility transforms each person's circumstances into a perfect doorway for unfolding their vast potentials.

Manuel Pistner

Founder and CEO
Manuel Pistner, freelancer in software development and founder of the digital agency Bright Solutions, has made it his mission to free companies from local bottlenecks and the war of talent through virtual teams. His talk is about a journey into re-thinking everything about the classical work structure and finding a better way to create a transparent, global, modern and non-hierarchical company with people who care about the job they do and do it in a way that’s convenient for them and without limiting themselves or the organization to the barriers of time and geography using virtual organizations as the key to solving these problems.

Verena Bonath

Head of Product and Brand
Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Verena studied Economics and Communication at the University of Arts (UdK) in Berlin. She believes everyone is an artist at heart and uses the healing power of art. This is the reason she joined ArtNight in November 2016, only a month after the company was founded. ArtNight offers painting classes in bars and restaurants where participants create their own artwork under the guidance of a local artist. The company is now international and provides different kinds of events, besides painting classes. This year Verena helped introduce new concepts within ArtNight: Mental Health Night, Charity Nights and Female Empowerment Nights.

William Moore

Entrepreneur/ Life Coach
Will Moore graduated with honors from Rollins College, Florida. Soon after he created Rollins Rentals with another fellow alumnus - focused on providing quality off-campus college-friendly homes to students from his alma mater. Next came Doorstep Delivery, a restaurant delivery service comparable to Grub Hub or Door Dash which quickly became the largest RDS in the South East with 19 branches. Whether it's real estate, restaurant delivery, or one of the other ventures he's helped pioneer, Will has always had an uncanny knack for capitalizing on trends before they happen. And his newest venture is no exception. He is tapping into the current momentum of the up-and-coming generation finally realizing that there’s no shame in wanting to be their best selves. But this isn’t as much a business venture as it is a movement. His purpose: Help others become the best version of THEMselves so they can pay it forward to help the world become the best version of ITself.
