Hide and Seek: The Story of Those Who Are Yet to be Found

“Hide’’ means to purposefully conceal from sight. Most of us are intent on ‘seeking’ rather than ‘hiding’. However, there are things in this world that shine by purposefully avoiding the searching eyes of others. So, TEDxSNU 2020 Winter aims to tell the story of the things that have their special reasons for choosing to hide.

Why don’t we revisit our memories of playing hide-and-seek as children? The thrill of giggling behind the curtains, the shivers of excitement while holding our breath to avoid capture, and the delight of devising mischievous ways to fool the person who was “it”!
Let us reminisce about those times. Our younger selves, who used to wriggle into hiding places ever so gleefully grew up to become adults who only ever want to be “it”.

We all have experiences of hiding something. Valuable personal records that we want to keep to ourselves, truths so heartbreaking that you wanted to conceal from others, and heritages that survived from adversity to testify that history. Some may frown on the idea of hiding from something. But those decisions may make this world a better place.

In this society, it is rather hard to confidently state “I will hide from something”. But there exist things that gain value by hiding, or being hidden. TEDxSNU hopes to present new experiences to the audience by talking about the value of ‘hiding’ that has been underestimated. All these discussions are just a fraction of the endless talks we can have about “Hide-and-Seek”. In TEDxSNU 2020 Winter, we would like to listen to the talks about “Hide-and-Seek” from different perspectives.

Then, where do the courage and confidence of celebrities who shine every scene of “King of Mask Singer” come from? A “mask” gives a mysterious power to people who stand on the somewhat awkward stage. That power would be the confidence which comes from finding your new ego that has been hidden behind yourself. Wonwoo Park will draw you into the world of “King of Mask Singer”
