TEDxDecatur 2020 was held virtually and a bit of a delay on January 9, 2021. The three-hour event included pre-recorded talks by Shilin Zhou ("3-7-3: Secrets to Effective COVID Communications") and Julius Campbell ("The People vs Recidivism: How to Help Returning Citizens Succeed"). Each talk was preceded by a creative video introduction of the speaker and followed by vibrant discussions with a diverse, enthusiastic audience.

Julius Campbell

Mentor / chaplain for people impacted by the criminal justice system
After 26 years of incarceration, Julius has returned home a better rather than bitter man. His transformation while in the criminal justice system was driven by his earnest desire for rehabilitation and his faith. During his time in prison he pursued higher education, graduating from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry. In addition, he has added a host of necessary skill sets to his tool belt (i.e., mentoring, compassionate coaching, and motivational speaking). Since his release he has continued in his passion of encouraging, educating, and empowering others to finish strong.

Shilin Zhou

Health Communications Expert
Shilin Zhou received her M.S. in health communications from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health after earning a B.A. in Public Health from Agnes Scott College. In her role as a management consultant, she specializes in crafting communications strategies to drive behavior change, particularly through storytelling via creative mediums. A native of Shanghai, China, Shilin has had experience working with Fortune 500 companies, federal and state government, international non-profits and research institutes across China, Botswana, and the U.S.
