Who can create the code for a robot to realise its own art? Who wants to select pieces of art from up and rising artists to present to exclusive clients? Who wants to be in the forefront in the fight to save the planet from climate change? Interested? There’s more. Please join us on our online TEDxYCISHK event hosted by year 12 to 13 students through Zoom on September 30th, 5pm-7pm. Originally, it was scheduled last Spring, but got cancelled by Corona. So fret not, we worked through the summer to ensure an online format for everyone to enjoy!

Our event theme is "The Power of Pop Culture". In this event, we aren’t restricting speeches to topics like movies or comics. We are exploring different perspectives, including the artistic outlook, scientific investigations, and societal ordeals. Pop culture means something that is generally recognised by members of society, including the influences of pop culture in all segments of society in Hong Kong, or even include society at large. The reason why we have selected pop culture as a topic is that culture permeates all societies. It defines who we are, how we think and how it influences our mindset - therefore, where we will go.

The scope of our speakers’ interests sit across various points of the pop culture spectrum. Expect to hear about stories from astronomers to CGI directors of local hit movies and to our very own members of the school community!
